Doing my part in these crazy times
Even crazier, might move the headphone budget into a DAW plus keyboard and have a go at entertaining myself with electronica.
Edit: Will check out Zola Jesus and Fever Ray.

OK, folks, Iām listening to the song, and I find it difficult to NOT hear the metallic tapping. On the BF2>STAX SR1-T1S to Hive it is very prominent. It sounds like itās coming from about 11 oāclock, just slightly to the left.
To my ear, it is more complex than a metronome sound, I agree with @generic, it sounds like a drumstick on the metal edge of a drum. At times, itās got a bit of depth, as if the metal edge causes a secondary note (hard to describe). The sound stops at 2:21, then starts again at 2:28, with a slight syncopation as it starts up. The second or third tap hints at something perhaps different than a drum edge, but itās subtle.
Yes very interesting song.
Sounds like a mix of finger snap + hand clap (synthetic) to me. I bet it is pure electronic though. Thanks for sharing. Always fun to discover new electronic music.
Cheers,
Henrik
Itās pretty awesome how this turned into a civil discussion and people are helping each other out. Can easily see how this could go a different way out in the wild interwebs.
Well done, headphone.comārs!
Hey this is perhaps random/ off topic but it reminded me of the conversation here yesterday because of the chime soundā¦( sounds like a glockenspiel but itās āchimeyā ). Just happened across this on Qobuz ⦠Joachim Cooder / Come Along Buddy. By the way is there a thread where people post their favorite headphone tracks because Iām always looking for new tunes. This one sounds awesome on my Arya
Thereās a thread called āNow Playingā where people post what they are listening to. You could post there and include notes/comments the song.
At first I played this song and wondered what exact sound you were talking about.
After @pennstac mentioned the minute marks, if it is indeed the clapping marking that is in question, I find it quite prominent and also hard not to notice. If that is the sound, it sounds like snapping of fingers with some echo to it - but I am still asking myself if this is the sound everybody is talking about.
This is a very nice track!
If there is more than one āclickingā sound that begins at 0:33 and repeats regulalry on the half-notes I havenāt heard it.
The song does seem to be a hit with some folks here so thatās a nice plus to the thread.
Sounds like a closed hi-hat to me. And quite obvious. But maybe Iām not listening for the right thing. This is on the 8th notes.
There doesnāt seem to be any other tapping sound that stops at 2:21 and starts again at 2:28 besides the clap sound that sounds like it has a little reverb/echo to it
But then again⦠I donāt know how to count half notes or 8th notes⦠or any note (shame on me⦠wish I could). I was trying to listen to any āhiddenā sounds in the background, but I couldnāt pick out anything.
To be specific - right at 0:55 there is a switch - from 0:55 - 1:03 there are only 5 sounds (I believe):
Is this the sound we are trying to hear?
Edit: Hm. I went back to 0:33 and heard this hi-hat-like sound. It actually seems that it disappears at the minute marks that I gave (0:55-1:03), but actually it is in the far far far background. This is the 6th sound and can be very hardly heard. It took me several listens and comparisons to the 0:33 mark to reveal it.
At the busier parts of the song it takes you (at least me) some serious concentration to isolate that particular sound. It does indeed sound both like a high-hat and a tapping on the edge of the drums.
Edit #2: the clap is definitely not the sound everybody was trying to hear. The clap is a slower tempo, whereas this tapping sound is quite repetitive and quick (for the educated folks = half note⦠for us who arenāt = my poor description )
Yes, the tapping sound is the culprit that started the thread.
Good job of being persistent to find it!
Iāve finally figured out what it is. If you play it backwards and really slowly, you can just make out that itās a sample from Iām Only Sleeping by The Beatles, the bit where John Lennon is telling us that āPaul is dead, miss him, miss him.ā
At the risk of reviving a thread that people are probably sick of - I bought a cheap IEM as an experiment and it turns out I can hear the sound with the IEM
I donāt know what it is with my hearing that allows me to hear this sound with speakers and IEM but not with headphones.
Next step is to buy a legit IEM and see if that might become my primary listening method.
