Rainbow is the color of those who are questioning their priorities.
They’re very good about getting user requests in from their forums. I’ve had a few go live in firmware including push vol to mute.
You guys and your purple fetishes. Isn’t there a Reddit therapy group for this?
WTF, I am at a loss as to even guess. Your love of the colour purple shows no bounds.
My alma mater’s colors are purple and gold and one of our mottos is to “bleed purple”.
Plus purple is a nice color.
Now that I think about it a lot of the soccer teams I played on had purple in the Jersey…plus
My highschool colors were purple and gold I think lol
If there was, it’d just be filled with arguments about what actually constituted “purple”.
I do not like the amber color…needs more purple =) back to Cyan it is… the rest of the updates are nice though and good QoL changes/updates.
My wedding tie and socks were both purple…Not the suit, fortunately.
I fixed your statement for you
Funny.
It all started in our trip to Italy prior to the wedding. We were looking for a purple tie. Couldn’t find one at Hermes, or Ferragamo, Zegna, etc. We were walking on Via Condottti and my now wife says that we should try Brioni (the most expensive of them all). We went in and the salesman sized us up immediately. He showed us the perfect tie. He then said that it needed to be shown with a shirt. Which worked and fit perfectly too. He then said it needed to be shown with a suit. Which made me look like Clooney or Bond (which I am not). We stopped him at shoes and belt. Within hours the suit had the necessary adjustments perfectly made for me.
This was by far the most expensive tie ever. It came with a shirt and suit.
Anyone else with an RME and SPL Phonitor X/XE notice that the new Amber meter option on the RME (firmware from yesterday) matches the VU meters of the SPL very nicely?
Pictures, please?
Needs more purple…
Is the Phonitor a loaner or did you buy it? Will you be writing a review where you compare it to ADI-2 DAC?
I have the Phonitor XE and the RME ADI-2DAC and honestly the Phonitor is just clean power, the features are nice but the only feature I really ever use is the extra headphone ports in the back (XE version has this the X has speaker pre-outs I believe). I also opted out of having the DAC option…(kind of regret it now as I hear the DAC for the XE is rather nice).
I think that with the RME ADI-2DAC you will have everything you could want in an AIO. Really it is hard to beat for the price and capabilities. But the weak point is the amp…but not by any large margin. I think most people would be extremely content with just the ADI-2DAC (erghh…don’t like typing that a lot lol).
Now that being said I think the optimal performance gain for the ADI-2DAC is to be paired with a more capable amp (Solid State, or Tubes) as its DAC capabilities mixed with the all the tech and EQ are amazing when paired with the Phonitor amps.
For me the Phonitor is clean power and just gets out of the way of the source, and just provides the power to drive the headphones without coloring the sound or having a fatiguing nature.
Anyhow my two cents on the matter… I haven’t had time with the DACs in the Phonitor X or XE enough or at all to give a statement on them…but I think that if you are not in the market for EQ or the other options the ADI-2DAC provides then the Phonitors would be better buys. I know @Torq did a good write up of the Phonitor X including thoughts on the DAC. I also know he pairs his ADI-2DAC with the Phonitor X.
