@SleepyRhythms there must be something wrong with my setup then because it clicks every time and it is loud enough for me to hear it. I will play around with it a bit to see if I can figure out what is wrong.
As @SleepyRhythms mentioned, I’ve tried upsampling everything to 192/24 via Roon and that does prevent any relay clicking to occur, but it noticably affects the sound you’re getting in a negative way. I was hearing certain objectionable artifacts that way that I don’t hear when just letting the BF2 do its own oversampling.
I’d say just try to get used to the clicking sound. It’s normal, and it’s not a concern for the durability of the BF2 itself.
Way too OCD. I recall when I first bought WICO joysticks for my Atari 800. Distinctive click when pushing the button - a firing button at that. WICO said they were military grade microswitches. I used them for close to a decade, then briefly later when I found some dongle that translated their obsolete messages. 47 years later, they still click and work and look like new. I have a sneakin’ suspicion that Schiit built the Bifrost2 the same way. And those old WICO sticks cured me of clicking anxiety.
Rewind, as in wind the cassette tape backwards? Lol.
My terms are pause, play, fast-forward, rewind. I’m old, too. I even owned a Betamax.
Pro tip: save your walkman’s batteries by using a pencil:

Don’t even laugh. I did that regularly.
Ahhh I remember… and what a tape in the end!
I’d pay big bucks to put my hands on those long lost artifacts…
Anyway, with those high temps, my Bifrost 2 is almost too hot on the touch. Should I try to let it breathe a bit more?
My Bifrost 2 never got hot, let alone too hot to touch.
My Bifrost 2 runs warm. My Modi Multibit runs quite hotter. Giving enough clearance and not stacking helps.
I’d check with Schiit customer service. My Bifrost 2 runs very slightly warm - Maybe 5 to 10 degrees (F) above ambient. It does have very good ventilation.
Do you have it running in a confined area? Even then it shouldn’t get crazy hot or even warm I would think.
No, it is in the open, but it is on my desk and there’s another piece of gear on top of it.
Bifrost 1 remains cold in comparison.
I’ll try not to stack it to see.
Anybody noticed sound changes with temperature?
I keep mine on 24/7 so can’t say. Sits by itself and has space around it so doesn’t get overly warm.
Well, my VO and Pendant are getting close-ish and I pulled the trigger on the BF2 tonight!
Awesome!! Fun times ahead for sure!!
Great dac, really very nice!
Enjoy!

Anyone here have experience with the BF2 and Ray Samuels Raptor together? Curious on feedback for this combo. Paired with an Auteur (and potentially a Verite). Also if anyone has a line on where I could find a used BF2 I would be forever grateful! Haha.
My Bifrost 2 is slightly warm on top when I place the palm of my hand on its top…note even close to being “hot”…and no the sound doesnt change with any temperature increase.
If the unit is getting “hot” as you indicate send schiit a email via their website support and let them take a look at this.
Alex
I measured the temperature with a thermocouple on top and bottom of the Bifrost 2, its approx 89/90 deg F.
Well within semiconductor operating tolernaces…
