I appreciate you saying this! That’s certainly what we’re trying to do.

I couldn’t read all the suggestions , so I don’t know if it’s been suggested.

but how about an ‘ Advanced EQ Tutorial’. With using sweeps and whatever else you guys use.
I use sweeps to hear what measurements don’t tell me above around 1000hz. But any other suggestions would be great. Or maybe I’m missing something while doing my sweeps.

Getting around 4-10khz smooth is so important to timbre.

Ideas?

When people describe aspects of FR / audio quality, they often use descriptors like nasally, punchy, plasticky, muddy, etc. However, it’s hard for me to map these words to a sensation / experience since I haven’t heard a lot of headphones, nor am I a trained listener. Would it be possible to have a video or audio file where a song is played normally, and then with exaggerated changes to the frequency response to clearly emphasize those types of descriptors? I’m not certain if all of the descriptors can be conveyed this way, but I feel like it could be a very helpful way to help train a listener to what to listen for when evaluating audio quality.

Best sounds of 2024. Suggestions are albums, songs, soundtracks, movies, etc. Any well done audio content that impressed you or you enjoyed a lot this year. I have enjoyed at least some recommendations from all of you so far so I hope you do this one!

P.S. if you haven’t heard of musicleague.com you should check it out - it doesn’t have to be that competitive, just a fun way to find and share new music. Maybe consider running a community event?

How about ‘Ways to use anecdotes to support research’?

GoldenSound alluded to significance of collated community reports in his recent SINAD video, for example. It seems like there would be various (hypothetical) ways to apply the public data about people's reports of their experiences both for data analysis and forming hypotheses.

A discussion of this video:

Preferably with Lachlan himself.

I would love to see you guys theory craft the perfect true wireless headphone of the future (like 5-10 years from now). Unlimited price, any feature you could think of (measures HRTF, self EQ, runs off of wifi bandwidth, etc.)

Given all the drama this week, my question is plain simple. When the “you wear it wrong” day should be celebrated? That was quite a mark in audiophilia. No pun intended.

Thanks!

We discussed it a bit on the last stream, and both parties seem to have squashed the beef. We’re not really interested in discussing it further.

Glad that got resolved. Really glad. Felt compassion for the reviewer, when I watched his “defence” video on U-Tube. Should never have had to be put on the defensive. Anyway relieved to know its over now. Good.

Fascinating video. If it’s all true.

That’s a good one. Relatedly (perhaps already covered, and if so, I’d appreciate the reference), is a headphone’s tuning usually the same at different volume levels? Or do some of them vary?

This chart is both awesome and hilarious. Is “slam” the same thing as “rubbery bass”? “That may be slam to you, pal, but to me, it’s rubbery bass.”
