The battle for the best powered speakers under $2500 per pair!

Just to understand what you are shopping for (per the thread title), you list two powered speakers and two passive speakers. (Active = internally powered; Passive = unpowered, requires an external amp.)

While powered speakers are certainly easier to set up and more compact, they are not for tweaking or for purists. Amps and DACs can have an enormous impact on performance, but the setup is “decided for you” with powered speakers. Steve Guttenberg is no fan of the limitations of powered speakers. However, they can meet and exceed many users’ expectations too.

Regarding placement on a china cabinet, that can be a big issue because of lack of air space, picking up resonances from furniture, and being too high for optimal listening. Really, truly you must hear how bad rear ports can sound when next to a wall. Some bung up the port and add a subwoofer too. I’m using slanted pro audio foam pads to deal with resonance and ear height issues. They made a big difference.

Regarding these products, I’m currently shopping and demoing for similar products these days. Listening answers a million questions.
