The Sexiest Headphones

When I get a set of Clears again… maybe… They will be these! They look awesome!

I’ve heard they are the same.

I bought this headphone pretty much only for the looks.
ZMF Auteur is the sexiest headphone in my opinion because the earcups remind me of bra…

The ‘floating’ head creeps me out!

They are the exact same as the Clear, just a different colour. They ship with an extra pair of Ear pads but only with a coiled 3.5mm cable and 6.3mm adapter. No balanced cable and no regular 1/4" cable. For $200 more than the Clear…

But the Colors… :eyes::heart:

I really like the look of these Pioneer SE-700. Simple but still very sexy. The pads don’t seem so comfortable though being flat pads.

SE-700

Not my picture. I hope to give these a listen someday. They’ve got some piezoelectric drivers in them and those aren’t too common.

Those are pretty cool. The yolks are reminiscent of Beyerdynamic’s design.

Maybe not the sexiest, the aluminum cups and yokes look hot though.

Thought I’d post here again because I just remembered about these headphones:

Victor HA-WM90-B

By far the sexiest headphones I’ve ever seen. Some sort of submerged wood that’s used - they call it “Aqua Timber”. They use 40mm drivers that seems to be also used on the JVC HA-MX100 considering the driver specs (Frequency response, resistance, max W input, and driver size) are the same except for sensitivity though the difference in pad thickness is likely because of this.

Drivers on both look identical as well.

If the drivers are indeed identical, then I have high hopes for the HA-WM90 as I have a pair of those JVC HA-MX100 - they sound very good and the drivers are very capable. With the right acoustics, I’d imagine they can really squeeze out its performance.

Another interesting bit of info about the headphones from the article is that the driver is directly mounted into the earcups rather than on a separate baffle. As to why, they’ve explained,

“The direct mount method is to fix the driver unit directly to the monocoque housing. By directly fixing it, unnecessary vibration and resonance are reduced, and the sound reproduced by the diaphragm is aimed to be expressed straight.” Just thought it’s an interesting design philosophy.

The HA-WM90-B is, however, very expensive at roughly 3500 USD… Well, if anyone has “wooden headphone fever” and a deep pocket, I would much appreciate it if we could get some sound impressions and possibly measurements.

If Aqua Timbre is what it sounds like, then my University built Their Performing Arts Center with it (with the help of a huge donation from Robert Mondavi). What I’m describing lumber that was harvested centuries ago, then sank or got dumped off the barge. If they sink into a body of water deep enough they are preserved. The cold, and high pressure low oxygen environment imparts desirable characteristics, some say.

I believe that’s exactly what I’ve read that about the wood used on these Victor headphones. I just found the source where it said that: ƒrƒNƒ^[Aƒ†[ƒU[‚ɍ‡‚킹‚ĉ¹ê‚ðƒJƒXƒ^ƒ€‚·‚éƒwƒbƒhƒzƒ“uWiZMUSICvB90–œ‰~‚Æ30–œ‰~‚Ì2ƒvƒ‰ƒ“ - PHILE WEB

“The aqua timber wood used for the housing is made from rare 14th-century wood that sleeps at the bottom of North American waterways such as the Georgia Bay and Great Lakes. It slept in cold and clear water without touching the air for about 160 years. Compared to modern wood, the wood grain is finer and harder, so the damping ratio is small, vibration transmission is high, and it is clear and natural. It is said to exert a sound effect.”
