The Sexiest Headphones

Wow, amazing, love the look

Hahaha~~are your eyes well?

I haven’t heard them, but the brown version of the Klipsch HP-3 looks even nicer I think. Bit of competition for the Focal Stellia here:

Yes, the HP-3 really is a beautiful headphone. It’s almost got an industrial design aesthetic to it - what with the gimbals and the headband’s extendable sliders as well as the screws attaching them - but the leather and the wood also make it seem nicely handcrafted, almost artisanal. My preference is for the ebony version, as with @Lyer25’s lovely pair above.

The Massdrop Fostex TH-X00 Ebony is also quite attractive, even if it is nigh on impossible to photograph properly. I love how it seems to be inky black (this is my pair)…

… but that in the right light, you can also make out of the grain of the wood (stock photo from Drop)

Oh hey didn’t know you had an account here too! Great to see ya!

I do like the look of my HP-3s, and from memory it might even be the same species of wood as my old TH-X00 ebony which would be a nice coincidence, but I can’t be certain. Honestly though while I don’t mind the wear visible in how the black paint chips off the accents (I used to travel with the Klipsches and am clumsy so it’s… it’s got character now), I just overall prefer the look of the oak ones because there’s something extremely retrofuturistically steampunk about it and that just appeals to me in a big way. Like something Locke Lamora might use almost, haha.

Speaking of the X00, here’s a pic from right after I got mine in 2017 while the lacquer was still pristine:

I feel silly but I have no clue how to multi-quote on this site while on mobile. Apologies for the double post.

There’s an HP-3 thread on here where I’ve also written some impressions but the short of it is that they’re technically proficient but have a very niche voicing that’s almost HD800S but with more bass and less-even treble, albeit less elevated than on the Senns (based off measurements and at-home comparisons). Absolutely marvelous sub-bass on the Fostex aside I think the HP-3 is a categorical upgrade over the TH900 and is cheaper besides, which is always pleasant.

It could be that for various reasons I’m only down to my phone and laptop nowadays (long story, don’t ask) and I don’t feel the Klipsch is as head-achingly bassy as it used to be, so it’s more a mids-recessed signature that makes for a great fake headstage. Might also just be pad wear where it meets the baffle or acclimatisation.

It’s great to see you here, too - and, yes, this is one of my two happy places online!

Steampunk is exactly right, btw. Better than “industrial.”

I should add that your X00 are gorgeous, one of the prettiest sets I’ve seen. They have a genuinely lovely grain.

In spite of the creaks and their plasticky build, the HE 400i are quite attractive, especially for an entry-level headphone. Their appearance changes nicely in the light. They can have an appealing, iridescent quality to them (alas, not captured in this pic of my old pair).

I’m also fond of the looks of the LCD2-C (and X). They’re ruggedly handsome in profile (I wouldn’t go so far as to call them “sexy”).

And they do look a little silly from behind.

Edit: I’ve decided to sell my MW10 and other IEMs as I’m getting into the wristwatch hobby. Please DM me if you want it!

I don’t think I’ve seen cans that made me think sexy, but some headphone cables add that iced out bling element.

I like the slightly steampunk motif on the black in the top photo.

Me too! It’s the 1706 edition. It’s a map of old Torino engraved onto the shells. I hope to get one soon to test.

I am a bit bored with headphone designs lately as most are black only…

Contrast that with earbuds that seem to have an enormous range of gratuitous color. Mother of Pearl :phone: , opalescent, pink, turquoise, metal flake candy color. Whatever it takes.

:phone: I started to say Mother of Perl, which would be AWKward. I don’t know if Mother of Perl is even a regular expression.

I have the Shozy AAW Pola39 with the " Mother of Pearls" faceplate.:+1:

Yes, IEMs have become very colorful which I think is great. It seems that headphones on the other hand (aside from Focal) have always been rather drab an unimaginative.

So for me seeing new companies entering the market that break that scheme is wonderful!

Spirit Torino’s are like the fine supercars. Very elegant and sexy. Also, not too many people know about them, which kind of makes them feel even more special.
