That is a looker! What do you use to drive all 3?
I have two systems in the house:
Desktop one is usually my Mac connected to a RME ADI-2 DAC FS with HeadAmp GS-X mini amp and sometimes the RME is replaced with a Denafrips Ares II (sold one and now looking to buy one again lol)
Living room is a bit more complicated:
Sources are a Fluance RT85 with the ifi Zen Phono preamp and for digital a Bluesound Node. The node is connected to a Denafrips Iris DDC with USB, that’s plugged with i2s HDMI to a Denafrips Pontus II.
Amplification is fully balanced with a Woo Audio WA22 which acts either as the tube amp on its own or as a balanced preamp to a Ferrum Oor and Hypsos stack.
Congratulations! What a headphone to choose for your first entry with the ZMF family. Glad you’re so happy with it!
Thank you
The reviews and early descriptions of the sound signature of the Atrium’s made it feel like it’s the right time to get one. I didn’t feel the VO would be very different from my planars (at least not enough to justify it) and even though I was eyeing a VC for months, I don’t really have a use case for closed backs these days. When the Atrium was announced - wide soundstage, great mids, good bass - it all clicked.
Definitely a great starting point with ZMF. I knew when I heard it that it’s definitely coming home with me. Funny thing was I so enamored by simply how visceral and dynamic it sounded that I paid little attention to anything else until I got home and really began listening to it. The mids are definitely the cherry on top. Simply a euphonic headphone.
I got some serious wood! Bubinga!
That grill design on the Atrium is really damn cool. @zach915m great job man! Appreciate the hard work.
That grill design with that color/wood combination really does shine. What a beautiful piece you got there - great job, Zach and team!
For those who are on the fence today’s the last chance to get the stock wood at $200 off. Definitely a great deal considering you’re getting one of the best biocell headphone out there though I’d still not recommend getting in blind especially if you’ve never heard a ZMF. There’ll also be opportunity for more exotic wood options in the future so do keep that in mind as well.
Got my aged cherry Atrium in about 2 weeks ago now and I love them very much. Got rid of 3 other headphones to fund these and I haven’t missed any of them since (Aeolus, Arya, Celestee) . Now rocking stabilized VC for closed listening and Atrium for open - mostly with Ares II DAC and Auris Euterpe tube amp and I couldn’t be happier
Great pics. I often found myself rotating between the more laid back sounding VO and the more aggressive Atrium. For two headphones that have much in common, they certainly sound distinct enough to be complementary. What cable are you using? It matches the aesthetics of the headphone to a T.
Yeah it’s the same for me with VC and Atrium. I wouldn’t want to miss either of them.
I’m currently waiting for the fully closed mesh since I wanna give this a try to dial down the aggressiveness of Atrium just a tiny bit.
The cable is a custom made type 6 copper litz cable with Furutech connectors made by Viking Weave Cables: Ansuz — Viking Weave Cables . It’s the one used for the product pics since it was the first one he made with this type of cable.
The ZMF Atrium will be at iFi audio’s booth at Axpona this week - booth 8104.
Zach was kind enough to send me a set for the week, and I’ll post initial impressions soon!

I’ve had a fondness for bio-dynamic drivers since the first time I heard one. If there’s a headphone I regret selling, it’s the Eikon …
Not that the existing offerings haven’t been pretty, but I am holding off on my Atrium purchase (because there will be one) until I see one in a wood I can’t resist.
Yes, sound is all that should matter, but I’ve always been able to mix beauty and listening pleasure with ZMF headphones, and that’s not about to change …
Something warm, darkish, with a red or orange tint and lots of fine-line grain/contrast, paired with aged copper hardware … and my wallet will spring open …
Torq, you’re a funny guy. You should be a comedian or something.
That’s a really nice looking cable. A bit too much for what I’m willing to spend on a cable but sure looks great with the Atrium
