All of the tube amps you list are missing one thing that will make them good for your Grado. Output transformers.
(Ok, the pendant has them, but I still wouldn’t.)
Stay away from OTL with those.

I suspected that. I might just work to build around the VC and HD650. The Grado I can think about separately. Or I guess I could go with a different tube topology.
Try hybrid tube amps. Lyr 3, stuff like that.
Im not sure how long of a wait there is for a Glenn. Your best(and only) bet is to PM him on Headfi
@2359glenn
I have a pair of Grado 80e and they sound very nice, especially when you drop in 6336 tubes, which are the equivalent of a quad of 6080s. Not many amps can handle the 6336s,but Glenn is a mad scientist,so its all good on his amps.
EDIT: Zach of ZMF brings one of his three(!) Glenn amps with him to CanJams,so if you can make it out to a Canjam, you can hear it for yourself, but when the man behind ZMF owns three of Glenn’s amps that should be all the evidence one needs to pull the trigger…oh and Glenn’s fav headphone is the Verite.
You guys get this email today?
Pretty stunning looking…
Thanks. I’ll definitely be dropping by the Schittr when I get my VCs to try it out!
Did anyone else notice the red painted chassis? @Torq did you see this with the red chassis? I actually really like it…
Lyr 3 (which I no longer own, because I went a bit silly on pricier amps) is quite versatile, from my Verité opens to low-impedance Dan Clark Audio (aka MrSpeakers) Æon. I still own a vintage tube-hybrid, Apex Peak, with does very well with Verité, but it not with low-impedance headphones. I have a Verité closed pair at work with a (now-discontinued) Neurochrome HP-1 amp. I could bring the Verité closed home for an amp bakeoff (Phonitor XE, Eddie Current Aficionado, Apex Peak). Oh, and I’m waiting for a DSHA-3F to show up any time now. So many comparisons
I just asked Zach to change my Monkeypod VC order to the LTD Leopardwood with the wine chassis this morning.
It does look beautiful.
Ooh! Please post pictures once you get it in!!
Will do! Although, I still like your purple ones better!
Yes the burgundy “wine” colored magnesium is really nice, here is an interesting picture comparing the burgundy to the black magnesium yokes. As a friend of mine had an option when he ordered his headphones from Zach.
ordered. dark stain with burgundy. unsure of pad choices. will be using with a Dave
Stain? Huh? For which wood?
I’m curious because stain usually kills natural chatoyance, but can give desired colors.
I think for the Leopardwood. Zach mentioned in the email that a darker stain is an option. Not my personal preference, but it has a sort of rich look to it.
Yeah, I think most of what ZMF does regarding their wood selections has more to do with a desired appearance rather than sonic attributions.
Congratulations on the new ZMFs! @tusing
That’s a great picture of some great headphones. Congrats.
