I wanted to cross-post this from head-fi and hifi guides because it sounds like the same discussion was interjected here without an update.

Also - to further explain, we made about 10 sets of these earlier this year to see how we wanted to sell them, and realized they are so unique that we needed to sell the stabilized one by one AFTER they are built, because there’s so much variance (in the wood aesthetic) that it just ended up causing more email exchanges and customer service than a small company like us could handle.

I don’t know where all these rumors started about us withholding sets for any benefit, that was and never has been something we even considered, and I would appreciate those of you who know where these rumors started to help spread the below information so that false rumors don’t hinder a small company like ours from doing what we love, which is make headphones.

My post from head fi:

@ValentineLuke - just to be clear - anyone who has an order in has the option to choose ahead of anyone else from our selection of Verite Stabilized sets, in a private storefront that we are creating just for these customers because of our store mistake. This will happen BEFORE any other customers have a chance to see the next batch of sets.

There simply are no headphones that we are “withholding” from those who decide to keep their money invested in wanting a stabilized set. We sold ALL the sets we had made today and NONE are left. Buyers who missed out will get to choose from ALL sets we make going forward until they either find one they like, or decide to get a full refund. We have offered full refunds without question to those who don’t want to be first in line to see the next stabilized sets.

I’m not sure where you’re getting your information - but we have always and will always take care of our customers, it’s the most important thing to a small business like us. And what I stated here is exactly what’s been stated to customers who made a purchase that wasn’t the first in line for the particular set they wanted via direct emails to them.

Edit: I also want to reiterate globally, that this is just the tip of the iceberg on the stabilized closed Verite sets. I am humbled and amazed by the demand for them, they are super beautiful, and to accommodate demand we have a lot more sets to release. We just can only make them so fast for release, and we are working hard to do so. I promise the rest are just as beautiful as this first batch.

Those are cool looking. Have a cool grain to them. Enjoy man!

Yeah they’ll probably be smooth. Just a little texture around the grain.

Everything will be alright! I spoke to Bevin yesterday evening and she explained they have a plan and multiple options laid out for anyone who was a double purchaser. As stated above.
They’ll take care of us and it’ll be OK. I understand some are frustrated but everything happens for a reason and we’ll all be happy in the end. Maybe we’ll find a set we like more. I’m sure if someone isn’t satisfied they’ll gladly refund your money and allow someone else to take the offered stabilized set(s).
I’m personally a double purchaser and I’m at least glad I have options. Other people/companies would have said “Gotta be faster next time. Sorry we had technical difficulties” and moved on without a resolution to the customers that lost out. But again, they are at least working with us.
I even had a laugh at my own expense/misery yesterday multiple times lol. It’ll be OK guys! We just have to keep our composure!

:laughing:Seriously, it’ll be OK! It’s not the end of the world.

You and the ZMF family have earned enough respect with how you do things that we ain’t gonna be put off by a bloody computer glitch.

We also know that you will do what you can to make things right.

Things get goofy sometimes but we carry on. Happy holidays.

After some exchanges with @zach915m and @BooUrns I now feel confident that they are indeed doing their best to work with those that unfortunately were sold items that weren’t available. I’ve also been assured that they will provide future accommodations where they were lacking (cryptic, but it’s a good thing).

Apologies to Zach and Bevin. They are indeed good people doing their best!

Also, I have not been coerced in any way to provide these statements. I made a mistake and am doing my best to right that.

One last thing, if anyone proclaims to be a “ZMF Insider”, know that they are LIARS!, regardless if they‘ve appeared in public with Zach and Bevin, no such role exists.

Keep on rocking @Earmuffs!

Well said! Though, I hope there aren’t as many double purchasers as there are stabilized sets for the next drop…lol

From what I gather there will be enough. And some double purchasers opted for other options.
It’ll work out!

Web design is an expensive and arduous process. We’ve hired multiple web devs in the past and spent too much money to only use about 5% of their work in the end.

And despite numerous tests, there are always going to be things going wrong that you can’t test for. Especially considering the amount of traffic doing online shopping yesterday. PayPal is quite a bit bigger than ZMF and they were down in the morning on the biggest shopping day of the year. Ebgames, Gamespot, etc… all crashed during the new Xbox and PS5 launches respectively. Even AWS went down on Wednesday. Things happen.

Yes I agree. Things happen. I was a software test engineer for many years. I was just trying to make the point that writing software and testing it are different disciplines and things happen because they aren’t separated and given equal weight in the development process.

Just a personal gripe of mine. There is nothing you can’t test for.

EDIT: I’m not saying ZMF is at fault. Their customer service is exceptional. But the other companies you mention? They just put out lousy software and take advantage of the fact that their customers have been conditioned to expect software to fail. That’s their profit margin. Thanks Microsoft.

Oh I get what you’re saying, I just think it’s unrealistic to expect a small company to invest in a web developer. Or maybe they did. This seemed like a bit of a one-off issue that would be pretty difficult to test for.?

But, this thread is back on track and @zach915m’s explanation of what happened along with what’s going to happen is a great example of what great companies will do and what sets them apart from others.

If you guys really want to know what happened, our development team was tasked with disabling a shopify app called “dynamic product options” that automatically creates a new SKU every time a new item is placed into the cart (this has to be done with custom products in shopify). Dynamic product options works great when things aren’t selling all within 10 seconds of each other, but shopify can’t update itself and delete the product AFTER the sku is sold when things are being sold that fast. So multiple people were able to checkout with the same headphone.

We did test everything, but before the sale went live amidst last minute checks it reverted to a previous version of product that still had “dynamic product options” working. So yes it was a human mistake, and if you want to blame anyone blame us for sure.

I’m sorry our website isn’t perfect, we are always striving to make things better, we know exactly what happened in this case, and it won’t happen again.

We are as mentioned taking care of the people who it affected, and for them they will have a better buying experience for it going forward - or they can opt out and get a full refund.

Zach, I appreciate everything you are doing to keep the transparency and make sure we are in the loop. I would say, you really did nothing wrong.

You transitioned to a new platform and you are releasing a very high demand product that would be having a high traffic and sales for the same product. I think hiccups are expected, but the way you are handling it quickly and professionally is a very admirable. It is easy to get caught up in the negative of a big drop like this, but places such as Nike has these problems every shoe drop, and still haven’t properly handled it.

Your company does well far and beyond what any other company I know does for its customers. So while I do appreciate the transparency and explanations, you really don’t need to defend yourself. You are doing an amazing job, releasing amazing headphones, and offering world class customer service. I am sorry that you guys have been getting some shit for this drop, but again, at a platform change, a small business, and a high demand product, hiccups like this are bound to happen. I think it really says something with how you handled it.

As for your website, I think no website is perfect, so the idea that you have a bad site is nonsense. There is always room for improvement in every site, and especially when you just released I don’t think there is much to really complain about. People seem to forget you are a small business, not Apple.

Keep up what you are doing, and excited to see what else you guys are releasing. You have the support of many, keep your head up and don’t ever get discouraged, you guys really are doing something really special here.

Okay rant done thank you

Thank you for the clarification, you and Bevin deserve all the praise that is heaped on you and the ZMF team!

Things happen, patience and restraint are things we can all get better at, hopefully everyone has walked away with a better outcome on life!

We are all people, not just silly names on a message board, respect and understanding should be the standard… but, it doesn’t always go that way for all of us… bad days can come for us all! It’s good to take a step back and recognize it in ourselves and others when we start to go sideways if we can!

This is the time of year for being thankful! let’s get back to that!!

I’m thankful for this forum, it’s members, this hobby and the friendships that it has granted me the opportunity to build! Especially the meeting of such wonderful artists like the ZMF team!

Thank you everyone!
