ZMF Vérité C - Closed-Back Dynamic Headphone - Official Thread

If you buy an Echo, the box it ships in isn’t too cumbersome, and packs everything including the tubes really nicely.
I haven’t heard the Valhalla 2, but I’d say the Echo is a good choice out of the others.

For any prospective olive owners, here is a photo comparison. My photo is in low light with an iphone.

I’m currently waiting on my VOs which are getting pretty close at this point, butI’m interested in one of the stabilized VCs, is there enough of a difference from the VO to be worth it, or am I more or less just increasing the low end a bit by going closed back? I just think they’re absolutely incredible looking pieces and would probably be hoping for a red or purple pair depending on what pops up.

I bought a VC about a year after the VO and can’t imagine selling either. Actually planning to get a VO in a different wood at some point. The staging is very different in each, and while they’re similar, I find the Aeolus & Atticus more similar in comparing open and closed models with the same driver. Ultimately I prefer the appropriate version Universe suede pads on both, but they can be made to sound more different from each other with pad rolling.

I’ve been listening to them both for a while now. I personally prefer the VCs, but their sound signature is similar enough that I doubt I’ll keep both. I’d rather a greater contrast in sound myself.
That being said, they’re both pretty incredible and you’ll most likely be happy with either or both.

Which is closer to reality then ?

Zach should take a look at this maybe…

Mix of both probably is correct answer. I’d say my photo is closer to how it looks IRL. It is a touch darker than what my photo shows but the color is pretty close to correct. The ZMF photo more correctly shows the grain (dark vs light) better, but it is nowhere near as yellow/gold of a color as the picture suggests.

The difference is from the difference in lighting, if you hit an object with daylight or brighter color temp, it will appear more blue, if you hit it with 3200K/indoor lighting it will look more yellow. The Olive wood is highly reflective from the light color, so it will change based on those factors, and based on the camera used.

Decisions, decisions. There are a couple of sets of the stabilized that interest me, but I like the Olivewood too. Getting a good grain pattern is important. The wood I really like is the Eikon Marblewood. If that was in a Verite, it would be an easy decision.

Thanks for the explanation! As a someone who knows nothing about photography, its cool to learn a little about it.

Did you view it in different light?

Yes. I think it looks best under natural light. The wood really takes on the color of the light. So if you have yellow lights, it will look a bit more yellow, not as much as the picture I had linked in my previous post. It is really just reflecting the light I suppose. So if it is natural light, then it looks softer and lighter. Under yellow standard house light it looks a little more yellow. Its almost like applying filters to a picture. It is interesting to see.

Good luck to anyone trying for stabilized sets. There are some that caught my eye in this batch!

My order for olive wood is shipping in two days, i would have “changed” if I didn’t have to wait 4-6 more weeks…
Aeolus stablized run is happening in mid may, i think i will get one I’d i read up and see it compliments the verite closed

Sooooooooo… everyone hitting refresh yet?

It should do well. I had Aeolus and sold it to upgrade to VC. I don’t see how Aeolus would not not supplement VC. I think I’ll probably try Auteur next before going back to Aeolus. I really wish I could have them side by side and compare. Maybe will just end up owning all 3.
