ZMF Vérité C - Closed-Back Dynamic Headphone - Official Thread

Congratulations. Superb looking  How do you find the stock vs OFC cable?

Frankly i did’t really notice much of a difference TBH, but then again comfort on ZMFs have never been an issue for me. I chill in a recliner with my head back when listening.

I will pop on my VOs tonight and try to compare.

I think there’s a pretty significant difference, but I really don’t like to discuss cables on forums because of all the blowback from cable naysayers.

What I can say is to upgrade your interconnects and all power cables as your final step in your system.

Placing a $500.00 cable into a $1000.00 system will not give you much, if any sonic benefit.

I wont be able to give you any meaningful comparisons until the drivers have at least 100-200 hours on them.

My previous experiences when comparing ZMF hardwood (resin and stabilized both sound like a harder wood) and softer wood tells me the differences are minimal.
Faster decay and slightly harder impact on hard woods, whereas a slightly longer decay and more bloom on softer woods.

I agree with Zach when he said choose your ZMF headphone wood type on what is most pleasing to the eye. the differences are only apparent when doing a literal side by side a/b, and even then, the differences are subtle.

Hope this helps.

Indeed Monster. My recent cable upgrades have susbstantially improved my system and what really floored me is how much of a difference a really good power cord can make. In this case on my Dac/amp. Interconnects and power cord will be a priority for upgrading on the Airmid as well.

Here they are, all blue and wonderous!

Can’t even burn them in yet with my DAC all wrapped up under a tree. I’m so excited to get these babies officially working. The wood case is serious business though the stock cables look pretty simple, I may look into getting ZMF’s braided versions to put on some more style to these things.

Keep your dac wrapped, make holes in the package, enough to use, enjoy and when anybody comes home, hurry up and put it back under the tree and tell them the cats or dogs got to your dac.

(really nice btw, looks like pictures of the planet, land, weather formations, etc…)

Think smarter not harder I like that idea.

That is exactly what drew me to this color as my first choice. The swirls are what make it.

Lucky duck. I just got an email that the wood was selected for my limited blackwood VC. I’m probably looking at February. A little disappointing since my order went through 2 minutes after they went live.

yeah bud but you have blackwood on its way. Blackwood is the bomb, My Auteurs are Blackwood and gorgeous. I sort of settled for leopardwood on my VC because Zach didn’t have Blackwood at the time.
I am quite happy with them. But damn if weren’t saving up for my triode OTL. I would sell and go Blackwood. A bit of a wait but in the long run Blackwood is the way to go.

Happy listening,

Thanks for the pep talk! I sold my camphor burl VCs to fund the blackwood. I’m enjoying my bocote Auteurs, especially now with the auteur suede pads, but I miss my VCs!

Finally joined the party! My b-stock Burgundy Leopardwood arrived a couple days early. Haven’t had a chance to get much headtime, but so far, so good! They’re gorgeous, and the b-stock defect appears to be a couple of tiny pieces of grain that came loose during sanding, or some such. Barely noticeable, and if anything, adds character in my eyes

They arrived the day before I started vacation no less, so I’m sure they’ll be burned in on my head in no time!

My very first impression of the sound is that it’s warm and very resolving. I’ve been listening to my eq’d Diana V2 lately, which is fantastic. The VC’s are a touch veiled, as the EQ profile I’ve been using boosts the lower treble a bit, so I’m gonna give my ears a few days to adjust. The timbre, mids and bass however, are immediately on point!

Finally starting my first VC journey!
Got to hook up my set up so they are now running from my Burson Soloist 3XP and Schiit Bifrost.

Since this was my first foray into this sort of audio equipment can’t provide some hot vocab words but the feeling so far is, “hell yeah”

The sun isn’t quite out, but it’s a beautiful day today, so I thought I’d try to snap some pics.

This is “Memory”. Probably of the most beautiful stabilizes woods I’ve seen to date.

Difficult to capture, but there are grape like purples, dark berry blues, black cherry, and even delicate splashes of green, all interweaving into a near black temperament. The burls are busy and evenly textured. Just perfect.

Sonically, I have some initial thoughts, especially comparing to my Blackwood VO, but the praising will have to wait while they evolve through a proper break-in.

Man, those are gonna be so sick!

Gorgeous. Look forward to you thoughts on how it compares to your VO. I was surprised that I greatly preferred the closed version of the Verite. Don’t know if that is the majority view or not though. Enjoy the music.

Those are insane and definitely one of the best examples I’ve seen, congrats!

I’m also excited to see that email notification for my Blackwoods: “your ZMF order has shipped”
