ZMF Vérité - Open-Back Dynamic Headphone - Official Thread

Did you get Silk or Stabilized? It may take a few weeks to assemble them.

Oh, good point, LTD Desert Ironwood. I’ll edit my original post to include that.

You will find many similar experiences and excitement from the start of this thread, I myself was in your position a little over a year ago. Must have read this thread, and the general ZMF thread a few times before my pair arrived.
Zach and Bevin are a class act, and represent everything great about the hobby. Enjoy your wait, and try not to get too impatient.

Well my silk VO was used and burned in and I got them around the same time as a few other headphones so that excitement factor got lost in the shuffle. All those others are gone and I’m planning a future VO order, which says a lot. I’d just bought the Atticus a month before it and I recognized the house sound immediately but it took me a bit to really appreciate how amazing they are. 18 months later and they still get more head time than anything else. Really taught me to spend a good week or so with new headphones exclusively before forming an opinion.

I emailed Zach and asked a few questions before I ordered mine. Got a response a day or two later, which was predictably helpful, friendly, and awesome. Placed my order a few days later, got an email that my wood had been selected about 2 weeks after that, then received my shipment about a week later. :man_shrugging: lol I don’t think my experience is typical, though. I can only assume the person in front of me in line canceled their order at the last minute right before it shipped and I was next in line for that particular configuration.

As for my experience since, I must admit it took my brain a couple of weeks to adjust to the tonal difference between VO and my other headphones. Once I spent some time with VO, though, I came to appreciate what it does best, and it has since become my go-to headphone for all things acoustic or jazz (which is like 80% of my listening these days). I still think Arya has the advantage for electronic music, and HD800S has the edge in classical/orchestral, but nothing beats Verite for jazz.

I am getting the VO LTD Iron wood this week as well! I wonder how this would sound compared to the Susvara which is my daily driver. I don’t know what to expect honestly.

Hi all,

I’m considering the Vérité for a near future purchase and I’d like to know if there’s always a limited edition on sale with a special kind of wood or do they come and go every once in a while ?

Thanks !

Welcome Danton!

They always have a stock wood (normally silk wood for the VO) and a LTD wood (limited woods change occasionally).

Not always a limited option, but I don’t think it gets much better than the current Desert Ironwood option. It’s more weighty than other woods so that’s the only downside.

How do you know Blackwood is next?

Thanks for all the answers ! I might be waiting for Blackwood then, sounds sweeeet:)

@Danton @Quantum @Earmuffs Because I emailed with @zach915m on May 2 asking when he’d be changing from Ironwood and he said, “We will be changing the LTD wood from Ironwood to African Blackwood in a month or two”.

I wanted the Ironwood because the Blackwood, though beautiful, Is darker than I like. My favorite wood for the VO is Cocobolo, but after learning about ZMF headphones, and especially the VO, there was no way I could wait until ZMF came back around to the Cocobolo to get the VO.

If you go to ZMF VO site, it is posted there that Ironwood is available to order until 6-1-21. So, it figures that orders for African Blackwood will begin after June 1.

Thanks for sharing the details. Curious if the weight will be similar to the Ironwood LTD. I’m waiting on an Auteur LTD release.

Should be very close in weight to Ironwood. Maybe even slightly heavier since Ironwood and Blackwood are the two densest woods on their chart, Blackwood being the most dense.

Oh man! Thanks for the insight. My Ironwoods are amazing, but Black… Cant miss that.
I don’t have any experience with the other woods, but I don’t notice the weight at all. Certainly not like I do with my planars or, certainly, my HEDDs. I’d still categorize them as the lighter side of “mid-weight” headphones.

I think it would be really cool if there was a list of all upcoming LTD woods in say the next year. That would be cool so everybody could sit certain ones out and wait for the one they really like.

Got the Verite Open yesterday, it’s so different than the Susvara. Initial impression is that the Susvara performs a lot better for music like orchestra, etc. The sound is deeper and the stage wider. ZMF felt more compressed compared to the Susvara on the same tracks. But, for rap music and such, or vocals the ZMF sounds more fun and musical.

I am definitely keeping this headphone!
