Happy Cake Day!!! @xiaoyaoyou
Happy day, Vic @xiaoyaoyou
Happy leftover cake day @xiaoyaoyou I missed greeting you yesterday.
Okay. Peeps I’m thinking of updating to a verite open. I’ve heard they are fast, fast, fast. I listen to very fast music. Think Meshuggah, Gorguts, Pantera, deathspell omega(blk metal) etc. Now most of these are badly recorded has anyone has problems with this on compressed, sometimes badly mastered music?
Depends how sensitive you are to bad recordings, as for speed the Verite Open is my favourite for more fast and extreme metal. Just how the drums decays and how the overall timbre is spot on for acoustic music or metal.
What is fun is that some music can find sluggish and badly recorded on other sets that have less resolution and speed. Then on Verite it comes alive more.
Interesting because I’ve definitely heard the opposite, lots of tech death, and blk metal for sure. I’ve listened to grados for hours without complaint lol.
Just snagged a pair of Green Stabilized VO’s on Ebay. Stoked to get them and try them out!
I was very tempted by that set myself!
Nice! I think my next ZMF will be by order. I was close to purchasing one direct, but I’m too darn impatient
You definitely got a good deal on that set. I’ve bought direct before and appreciate the lifetime warranty you get when ordering from ZMF. But I have mostly bought used so I can know exactly what I’m getting cosmetically.
Yeah, I paid around $1900 after taxes were included. I believe they were from the November 2022 run, so they aren’t that old. I’m excited to see them in person and give them a try.
Beautiful set! Enjoy!
Those are really nice, very cool!
Hope you enjoy them.
I finally got around to trying my Verite Open with the BE2 pads, and what a difference!
I know BE2 pads being an excellent match is old news to many, but they kind of transformed how I feel about my Verite.
It wasn’t getting a lot of use or love in recent times, as I tend to reach for Utopia 2020 or Atrium Open.
But after re-reading comments here and @Resolve’s pad findings, I switched out the Universe lambskin default pads.
I think the BE2 should be the “standard” pads it ships with. It does make the headphone sound smoother overall, and punchier in the bass. The FR comparison graph of the pads would seem to bear this out.
With ZMF in general I have perhaps naively thought “warm is good, bright bad” from Zach’s pad charts. Well, in this case whether or not the BE2 pads make the headphone less “warm” than the Universe pads, they just sound better imo.
If you haven’t tried the BE2 pads with your Verite, check them out!
I agree, I’m a big fan of the BE2 pads on my VO too.
It’s amazing how much Verite changes with a pad swap, isn’t it? Personally I didn’t like the BE2 pads at all - I’m partial to the Universe Perf - but the difference between them is like getting a whole new headphone. Which is super annoying because you have to buy ALL the pads to decide which Verite you like best, but also great because pads are a lot cheaper than buying 10 different headphones. lol
I was a universe perf guy myself. Verite pads seemed too veiled to me.
I wish there was a pad lending library so that I could try a bunch before buying.
