Android and Audio Formats/Sampling Rates

Yes with regard to the old tablet. Your thought is appreciated. Frankly, I’ve had a lot going on with work and I’ve not had the ambition to do much testing. Probably will be months because I’m taking on a new hire which means extra work until some level of training is achieved.

Some of you were probably already aware, but for Roon subscribers, there’s a new bit-perfect solution for Andriod. In addition to USB Audio Player PRO, we now have Roon ARC.

Roon ARC

I used one of my DACs with a nice display (Topping E50) and was able to verify all sample rates from 44.1 kHz through 352.8 kHz in both straight PCM and MQA (if you’re into that sort of thing). DSD also worked up to DSD128.

Both Roon ARC and USB Audio Player PRO enable me to play all of my local music (on a Synology NAS) plus Qobuz and TIDAL; however, with ARC, the interface is a bit nicer and I can access music on my NAS from anywhere in the world.

Roon ARC takes a little work to set up and not all Roon features are available (no internet radio and no DSP for headphones EQ), but it’s a nice addition to bit-perfect playback on Andriod devices.

I test that android can use uac protocol to connect to uac directly, and use uac2.0 protocol to support DSD512 or higher.
