In Aus they are about the same price. $6500 AUD gets you either sort of thing.
I didn’t hear them side-by-side so this is just from memory.
I thought the Sus sounded more life-like out of the two and had the more even tonality. The 5s were more fun-sounding to my ears and had the warmer tonality overall with more meat to the bass and mids. Naturally, it was more punchy than the Sus as well. Both offered different sounding presentations for sure. Other than that, these were the main things I was able to pick up on during my brief listen so take it with a grain of salt.
Understanding that they were hooked up to different amps and DACs, the Sus and the 5 didn’t sound all that similar to me, so, you know, you should get both.
(See what I did there?)
This is always the correct answer ![]()
With canjam hype over, it’s now a slow painful crawl to when headphones.com gets my lcd-5.
I’m loving lcd-4. But craving new.
In that price range, it’s usually simply “just as green” - you’re just getting a different sound rather than a complete upgrade in all areas. But, this hobby is fun, so enjoy it!
lol
This is what I most wanted to hear, if we only could have snuck the LCD-5 over to the @ampsandsound booth for 10 minutes!

I am betting it would be SLAMTASTIC!
Did you just coin a new term? I love it!
Just give me some coffee and I will come up with some more
Mine just arrived. Sorry for the lousy pictures but I am terrible photographer. The LCD 4 was already out so I just took a picture to compare side by side. Remarkable size difference.
Wow - I think that’s the first time I’ve seen them side-by-side. You’re not kidding, what a size difference!
Wow, they look much smaller than I imagined!
Congrats!
No wonder they are lighter, they are half the size of the LCD-4!
I prefer the looks of new smaller size.
[/quote]Congrats! Congrats!Congrats!
You order from audeze?
Yes. Apparently someone I went to law school with there is shepherding my stuff through without telling me until today. Getting stuff really fast.
My thoughts too. 420 grams with suspension strap is the right amount of weight. That’s proper comfort.
Did you order one?
The first totl on-ear headphone!
They really are light weight with more clamp though than any Audeze I have tried, then again they probably will stretch a bit with use according to the Audeze Reps. Not sure I have ever been so excited to review a pair of headphones.
