Sorry you experienced that. I know how frustrating it is when you don’t get a reply, and I suspect it’s pretty common with small businesses, where there might be one or two people checking for emails in their spare time.
With businesses that I already have a relationship with, I give them the benefit of the doubt (e.g. ZMF once forgot to reply to me, but since I already knew that Zach and Bevin are swamped with questions on a daily basis, I sent them a gentle reminder and waited patiently) but I have lost my patience with others and like you, canceled my order after waiting a week and getting no response. In most cases, the person eventually got back to me and explained they had a family emergency.
I think Burson have a small support staff too, and may also be a bit unorganized. As @hifiDJ said, they normally get back to me the next day, but there have been occasions where a few days have gone by without a response, and even one occasion where one person had responded the next day, and then another person came back a week later asking if anyone had gotten back to me.
I’m ok with them shipping it now, although I made it clear I wanted to cancel my order. The communication lapse was a little frustrating, but - that said, I think they heard me loud and clear. This is my first time dealing with Burson. Your comment about them being a bit disorganized rings true. Had they not offered a great discount from their website, I would have tried to work out a price with headphones.comHeadphones.com is good to work with once you connect on the chat line. I’ve bought several things from them.
Unfortunately our shipment got stuck in customs in New Jersey. Was stuck there since May 25th and we finally got it in last week. Glad you were able to get one though!
No, I just got the email about 2 hrs ago. I could be wrong, but I don’t think it will come standard. Otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense to include a near $300 psu as standard in their products (unless they raise the price).
Pretty interesting for a potential subtle performance boost…
I meant: are they suggesting that we buy one of these to replace the power brick that comes with their amps. I thought that was already meant to be a good psu. So this new one is better?
Ahh, yes it looks like it’s supposed to be a better one than the one that comes standard with each unit. It’s compatible with everything but the Timekeeper.
And Burson just got back to me, about 5 minutes after I emailed them!
I asked if the Super Charger should be considered as an upgrade to the stock psu for my Soloist 3XP.
Their reply was: The stock PSU is a good quality conventional PSU. Our Super Charger 3A works at twice that frequency hence pushes noise lower and charges the power caps faster.
It is hooked up in both directions. XLR input from the Stellar, and XLR output from the Burson to the Stellar. Burson USB DAC is patched from the imac. I have powered desktop speakers, but rarely utlize them. The office rig is a three DAC / three headphone amp setup (one of each is built in on the Stellar).
