BURSON Soloist 3X Performance - Class A Headphone/Pre Amplifier

Thanks @hifiDJ and @rrwwss52. That’s the smallest fuse I’ve ever seen.

How does the mic stuff work? Probably never use it, but I’d like to know what goes where (no irony intended )

Afraid I don’t use the mic feature. (I have Conductor Reference 3X).

Reach out to customer support. They’ll get back to you within a couple of business days.

Hi PaisleyUnderground. Did Burson ever reply? I am interested on buying these adapters too, but I cannot see them in the shop. I also emailed Burson back in April for an issue I was seeing on my Soloist 3XP and they ignored all my emails :expressionless:.

Try again, they are not the best at responding it seems…

I had to email a couple of times to get clarification on a few things related to the Soloist GT.

They never got back to me, despite emailing them a couple of times. I recently bought an LTA MZ3, which I now use as my preamp, so I stopped trying to follow up with Burson.

I’m selling my Soloist 3X Performance. I’m listing it here, but I’d also like suggestions of some other free audio websites so that I can maximize exposure.

There’s usaudiomart, themusicroom, and reddit to name the more popular ones…

And audiogon. First place I look for used after here. I’ve not sold on audiogon but it’s free to buy. I think there’s a reasonable sell charge.

headfi, US Audio Mart. IMO, headfi is the go to for headphone related sales. I’ve had good luck with USAudio Mart. US Audio is free for the first few sales per month (exception is if you use the BUY IT NOW features) Audiogon is also good, but seller fees are a factor.

I hate to tell you this, but Bloom Audio and headphones.com both have this on sale right now.

You might want to reconsider your pricing, or wait a bit… I got emails from both of them the other day. :-1:

I have had the Soloist now for 6 months and it doing a really good job for me. It replaced a swedish amp - Harmony design Ear 909 - https://harmonydesign.se/produkt/ear-909/. That amp was just fine but for IEMs it was a bit noisy so the Soloist suited me much better.

I also had some audionervousa so I bought a Farad linear power supply as well. The Farad provided a little blacker background and a little bit more relaxed sound.

The Soloist gets really warm in my setup.

cheers

Class A baby … that’s a good thing IMO and the entire case is a giant heat sink.

Yes, class A and a real transparent and lively sound in my view.

I have a question. Where do you get the XLR to RCA connectors to utilize the balanced output? I read the manual and they recommend using ONLY Burson connectors, but the unit does not come with them. I looked on the Burson site and their dealers and NO one has them for sale.

I was going to order some Nuetrix connectors but am now having reservations. Burson claims using other connectors can damage the OP amps.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Have you tried sending an email?

I’m sure they’d let you know what you can and cannot use specifically. I’ve never needed the adapters so I can’t say for sure.

You do have to email and request them, I think they’re like $40-$50.

Also, it is very important NOT to use other adapters. Burson says specifically not to on their website, as damage to the amp definitely can occur.

I thought new ones included them, mine did. Can anyone clarify?

I purchased a 3XR Conductor direct from Burson last year. No adapters were included.

New 3XP user here- I have been following @Leemore5745’s advice in post 438 of this thread carefully since getting the 3XP but still only listening to my least expensive HPS /IEMS -se and balanced- to give it a chance to burn-in but more specifically to show any flaws present that could damage my equipment. Question is : given I am following all the above-cited advice, how long should I give a manufacturing fault in the Burson to ‘declare itself’? It seems looking back on the events that occurred to users earlier in the thread, that it did so almost immediately after they started to use the 3XP. Any advice in this regard? After 10-15 hours of listening, should I consider it is ‘safe to proceed’?

I am wondering if anyone has experience using the soloist gt as a pre-amp for the timekeeper 3X GT monoblocks. I have a significant hearing loss but have 98% frequency reception if the volume is loud enough. My Susvara’s run at 75-80 of volume compacity on the Soloist in high gain and was wondering if I can run headphones off the timekeeper amp using a banana plug to xlr cable.

Hi friends. Just to follow up with this “special BURSON RCA TO XLR” adapter situation. I have a Burson Soloist SL (MK 1). It uses a FET design and I use my Woo Audio WA 22 as a pre amp with neutrik adapters and it is absolutely fine. My soloist I know is an older model, but I’m having absolutely no problems doing this. Runs at normal temperatures as well upon hrs of use.

With the 2021 models I know could be a different story. If anyone has any new info about this situation please share your findings.

Happy listening, Gents. :v:
