Nice! You are gonna love it. FAW cables, literally disappear when using them. They never tangle and always lay straight, and have zero microphonics, with the highest quality materials. What more could one want?
That is awesome to hear, as my main goal was finding a high quality, well made cable with reduced microphonics.
Which model of cables did you get from FAW for your headphones?
I have the Claire HPC mk II, and Copper series HPC mk II extended bass version (20awg). Both cables are very nice, but as far as ergonomics and microphonics, the Claire is the best, but the copper series extended bass version (20awg), is the sleeper of the lineup. With the copper series extended bass version (20awg litz), you are getting a lot of cable for the money.
Thanks Wes!
Really looking forward to the FAW Claire HPC Mk2 headphone cable, as my Cardas Audio is a great cable, though too long for my new desk setup and was far to micrphonic paired with the Focal Elegia.
Very nice picture. My forza cable is the priciest cable I have purchased. But I would love to hear some of the expensive boutique cables just to hear them myself.
I’m not going to say I’m a non-believer in “cables make a difference”. I’ve heard the Norne (on loan), Forza, DanaCable, my own builds, most of the ZMF cables, plus a slew of others. I’ve heard the sound change between cables on the same headphone, using the same amps/dacs. So yeah, they can make a difference.
The cable that had the largest impact on sound quality was the DanaCable Lazuli SuperExtremeRainbowsAndUnicornFarts edition… whatever their top of the line version was… and the difference was about a 5% improvement in sound. That’s it. … and I’m being generous at 5%.
Needless to say, for $1100-ish, you’re into extreme diminishing returns, and considering the minor improvement to sound that will net you, it’s the other factors about the cable that I deem as more important.
I think that’s why Forza and ZMF cables hit a sweet spot in the cable market for me. You get good sounding, better than stock cables, but more importantly (to me) you get products that offer the best non-sound related properties in cables at the best bang for your buck: No microphonics / noise from rubbing cables, solid and durable build quality, great connectors, comfort, and good looks.
Just my 2 cents.
I agree with what you say. I couldn’t see myself ever having enough disposable income to ever afford $1000+ cable. But even for me who is very open minded it would be going too far. Even if I could afford them. Still like to hear a few though. Plus, if your going to lay down over a grand on a cable I am sure placebo and buyer expectation may well come into it. I’m sure it would with me. I like you find the Forza cables about the right balance.
Hey,
Looking for cable for my Andromeda Green, since i hate the steel memory wires on my V2 Andro and also need a balanced 2.5mm ended for pairing to my SR15. Any suggestions for flexible and good sounding cable (that helps the mids, and keeps it airy and better resolution, in case you’re ‘believer’).
Thanks!
PS: Budget limited to 150-200USD
I just took delivery of a cable from a company I am totally impressed with. The company is called Satin Audio out of Vietnam. They have some of the highest quality wire I have ever seen from all the high end cable makers. I just bought an 8 wire super pure occ spc, which is some of the most pure conductors you can get. This cable only cost me $125 USD with shipping included. They ship within 10 days, and have great communication through Facebook. I highly recommend the Satin Audio Hyperion 8 wire, for exactly the kind if sound change you are looking for. Here are some pics, that show the quality of this wire. Really the best deals I have found with cables. I will be writing a mini review/impressions about Satin Audio and their products soon.
Satin Audio Hyperion 8 wire
Not sure if SPC would be an upgrade, and the cable I posted above is Forza Hybrid with OCC Copper and Pure silver hybrid, 4 core.
How are the sound impressions? Also how is the flexibility, since 8 core i guess will be too much for me.
Actually it is and I would not have made the suggestion otherwise, but we all have different opinions. This wire is 28awg, so double it gets it close to the FAW 26awg. As far as flexibility it is dead soft to the touch. As far as sound impressions, I was comparing mine to another cable of mine the Norne Audio Therium (pure silver litz wire), which is a step up from the FAW cable, and the Satin cable is of better quality than both.
Which IEM and source did you try? Limited my option to Satin Audio and Forza Hybrid, as of now.
Noble K10U and Savant II, with Fiio X5III, Samsung S10+, and my friends DX220.
I am just letting you in on a really great company with killer prices and sharing my positive experience. If I were you I would go to the Satin website and look at their offerings. They have a cable for all, and are priced so ridiculously low, for the highest quality wire available, I want others to get in on the savings, I have no affiliation at all, with Satin. You can look up some reviews of their cables from all the well known reviewers that have tons of TOTL iems, cables, and daps from all companies.
SPC, Copper, Silver litz wire and combinations of all three and now they are putting other metals in there like palladium, are all upgrade materials from stock wire, and they all impart different sonic benefits. How the conductor is implemented as in geometry and thickness play a part to. One last thing a $100 dollar cable from Satin, would go for $300-400 easily from any other cable company, dont let the prices fool you.
I can also say that the Forza Audio 2.5mm balanced cable is really good. I have this exact cable for my OG Andromeda.
I shall look into these cables too. It seems like an interesting company. Thanks for the info.
Seen the listings, they are superbly priced, for sure.
Even if they are half decent, they are a blind buy.
What is your source? The DAP?
