Here’s a video with a tinnitus tone sweep. It’s not interactive, but could be used in conjunction with the AudioNotch tool. This guy focuses on hearing issues.
Does anyone else have the side affect of one ear being muffled? Seems to be intermittent. It feels like a hand is cupping your ear. It’s most noticeable when I have over ear headphones on. It’s not noticeable if I use an IEM. Docs have no useful feedback.
Did you see an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist? Kinda sounds like one ear sometimes won’t “pop” like when you are descending in an airplane. I have that problem sometimes with my left ear and it’s from my sinuses being inflamed from allergies.
And a lot of people, end up once they see an ENT at times find out their ear or even both have a considerable build up deep inside. And once that build up of waxy stuff is removed by an ENT via irrigation its amazing how your hearing improves.
I rode motorcycles for many years and after my first ride wore foamie or better ear plugs every time I got on. I went to concerts when I was young though and I remember a few where my hearing actually cut out. I’m 69 now and have what I consider mild tinnitus, but wear foamies when I go to concerts. I get looks I know but I enjoy the music much more when it’s not painful.
I’ve been an audiophile since my teens, but recently got a decent pair of headphones and am seriously enjoying the modern version of the hobby. My Android phone shows me sound levels and says I listen in the 60-70db range, which I consider reasonable.
One hearing test app I used showed I had 90-95% of my hearing left. I did that tone generator and it showed a loss at about 10467 which seems to correspond to what I hear.
One question I have is something I haven’t heard anyone mention. Has anyone had any luck getting professional (ENT or Chinese) ear cleaning done?
Thanks,
ENT doctors strongly caution against getting your ears cleaned the Chinese way. Apparently it’s very easy to pierce your ear drum.
Here’s a perfectly safe method you can do at home:
I’ve done it once but didn’t notice any improvement. I’m considering going to an ENT and seeing if they recommend a more thorough cleaning.
Kinda irresponsible way to talk about a bleaching substance, however diluted. She doesn’t even mention what concentration it should have to be safe to pour into the ears.
CDC - How can hydrogen peroxide affect my health?
What I’m seeing in the pharmacies around here is a mineral oil based solution in a container with a sprayer tube that goes in the ear (brand name “Acustivum”). Seems substantially safer than peroxide since those oils are all food-grade if I’m not mistaken (safer in case of spilling them where you shouldn’t, and in terms of no bleaching effect on the skin). But then of course you should always take care of that nozzle so it doesn’t get contaminated, since the oil itself has no antibacterial or antiviral properties, unlike the peroxide. I’ve had some success with these oils for episodes of stuffiness that were clearly from something being stuck in there, or mild pain that wasn’t going away for days - one time it resolved after the mineral oil wash, another time it didn’t.
