My favorite cover has to be Guns and Roses.
… Because, you know, everything they did was a cover.

Like A Version is a long standing segment on our ABC youth/not mainstream radio station, Triple J. Some absolute gems on it. If you have time and love music, just run through this list. Shit is amazing.
Gang of Youths - Blood (Middle East)
Nothing But Thieves - What Can We Do Of The Fire Goes Out (Gang of Youths)
Odette - Magnolia (Gang of Youths)
Andy Bull - Everybody Wants to Rule the World
#1 Dad’s - Two Weeks (FKA twigs)
Matt Corby - Chains (Tina Arena)
Actually heaps more, but those favourites come to mind.
Been a fan of this series for a bit now! Love it! Such cool music!
Another great one to watch is Tiny Desk concerts by NPR
It is! Have watched all of those too!
Another good one is Paste Studio sessions.
1pm Thursday is roughly when Like a Version is live for you in Seattle. Can listen live online!
That is cool! Thanks for the heads up and link!!
I’m catching up from a couple of months ago - @ProfFalkin mentioned the two versions of St. James Infirmary. I’m not sure who the original composer was, but I’m pretty sure King Oliver’s version here counts as a cover, Louis Armstrong having recorded it previously. This is my favorite version. The last 40 seconds or so are among the most wonderful moments in the history of recorded music (just to be slightly hyperbolic):
From one of my fave films, Lianne’s voice conveys so much emotion…
NSP’s cover of “Wish you were here” is pretty great
Sure, it might just be @taronlissimore and I that like it, but this synthwave GooGooDolls cover was my jam today.
The king of crazy covers himself, of course.
So I’ve got three that immediately come to mind.
Land of Confusion - Covered by Disturbed
Hurt - Covered by Johnny Cash
Wish You Were Here - Covered by Ninja Sex Party
Here’s a covers album with the great, great Alela Diane on vocals - from 2008:
The versions of North Wind Blew South and True Love Will Find You in the End here are worth checking out.

Love covers! But almost always prefer the original.
My guilty pleasure are covers by amateur artists. One of my favorites is SF native, Jeremy “Passion” Manongdo. Some YT videos below:
Stevie Wonder covers:
Steven Curtis Chapman, “I Will Be Here”
John Legend, “Ordinary People”
I have always loved this cover of All Things CAT.
'All Along The Watchtower, Jimi Hendrix Jan 1968. , BobDylan ( wrote the song and recorded it 1967 )
And like all good covers, is completely different from the original yet still “works”.
2 of my favorite covers.
First one is a Beatles “Hey Jude” cover
The 2nd is a pink Floyd cover of " Any Colour You Like"
That’s a nice and edgy cover by the Flaming Lips.
