This has been on heavy rotation. It’s just so soothing to me.

Here is one of my favorite series on YouTube, and this cover of Hootie and the Blowfish was a standout for me…

That was good! The drummer on his iPhone made me snicker.

Amazing, as a transformative version of Black Sabbath:

You can actually understand the lyrics.

As an historical artifact rather than a favorite, Pat Boone(!) Smoke on the Water from “In a Metal Mood” (1997) – this album more or less invented the retro cover genre.

This style is now seen in Postmodern Jukebox, Puddles Pity Party, and more:

That was nice, @Jaethan. Made me go back and listen to the original.

@generic, the Pat Boone was interesting. But here’s my idea of a retro cover

Original written by Harold Arlen, words by Ted Koehler. First performed by Cab Calloway, in 1932 at the Cotton Club. Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald also did covers, but I really like this one by Sara Vaughn with a sneaky piano line by Oscar Peterson.

I don’t know who the original artist is. Hans does my favorite version of it.

With Hugh having a good version too.
