That’s a high compliment when a fellow artist regards your renditions of their work in a such a way.

Love Gorillaz. I’m a fan of Blur as well.

Cool cover.

I bought Toots and the Maytals album when it got a great review for both sound and music years ago, probably Stereo Review, may have been TAS. This John Denver cover was on the album.

this morning at the breakfast I was joking around with my wife about us learning instruments and she would love to play drums and I would play a fleet or triangle

I reminded the 2Cello video and so I showed it to her.
We love it!
What a nice start in the weekend!

Thank you

@TylersEclectic, re: Luca — How does that guitar work exactly? It’s like he’s playing two separate guitars one handed? (And also a bass neck)

…Magic??? lol

It’s like - I saw Christopher Parkening in concert once - he seemed to play 3 or 4 parts at once, but still took two hands on a guitar neck for him to do that.

Here’s a whole album of favorite covers of mine. I mean, like, what could be better than 70s funk done by an Elvis impersonator from a reggae Led Zep tribute band? Dread Zepplin is one of my secret pleasures.

Was listening to this last night as a progressive follow up to some Miles Davis, and followed it by Deadmau5’ Mau5ville Level 3 . Which probably tells all of the new people here all they need to know about me.

One of the first was Tori Amos, piano and vocals only:

That was very nice, @generic. We are starting to get a good playlist of Teen Spirit covers.

Parkening is a great guitarist.

I was fortunate to catch a performance of my favorite, Pepe Romero, in a small chapel in Santa Barbara.

When you see a master perform it’s quite a transcending experience. It was befitting that we were in a chapel! :pray:t4::grin:

Back in the day I created a ~20 different covers CD of “Route 66” for a road trip…funniest was Brian Setzer messing up the city names: Barstow, Reno
San Bernadino…but Reno is way way north of Barstow…hundreds of miles away…

I sat by one of Brian’s guitars at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas, when the cafe was still open next to the Casino/hotel. Only a few days left for the whole property.

I’ve also done the Route 66 cover playlist. Everything from zydeco to acid rock.
Other good songs for one song playlists are “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” and “Santa Baby”, not to mention “Stardust”.

Try Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” too – several dozen versions at minimum. Also, the original singer committed suicide… There are even male and female versions of this song by Swans, but the male singer (Michael Gira) hates that version.

I’m still waiting for enough covers of Ministry’s “Jesus Built My Hotrod” - such potential! The best known commercial cover is musically inferior to the original IMO:

Mad World. Gary Jules version takes a melancholy songs and turns it into a downright sad, depressing experience, and yet I love it.
