Final Audio D8000 over-ear planar magnetic Headphones - Official Thread

Thanks for sharing this info on the pads. I had D8K pro up for sale but just took them down and ordered the H pads to try. I am also going to try them on the Sonorous X and see how they work! This headphone is a great all rounder IMO, but the pads on my second hand copy just compress too much. I’ll report back, thanks again.

I’d be curious what you think of the combo, thinking about getting a pair myself as well

I will let you know for sure.

So I am listening to the H pads which arrived today. Rather, I should say I am listening to music through the D8K Pro with the H pads on!

It could be the age of my very worn G pads, but they feel firmer and do not compress as much.

Personally, I really like the fabric (Washi?). We’ll have to see how my beard stubble wears them.

I am not very talented at hearing/describing subtle differences, and given the time in between it takes to change them, take with a grain of salt: I think they are a bit brighter and more incisive. Vocals have a clearer, less veiled quality. Not that the D8K are veiled, but they are warmer than most of my other kit, especially my favorite Raal system. My big concern was that they would decrease the incredible sub-woofer like bass of the D8K. Not a problem, if anything, the H pads make the bass more textured and pitch perfect, but still with rumble. I guess, a little less bloomy deep down. For reference, I do apply a variant of the Oratory EQ for most of my listening with the D8K.

I like them, and given I am afraid to rip them taking them off to compare again, they stay on!

Coincidentally, my Beautiful Audio headband arrived today also, so I have what feels like a new headphone! The headband is a clever design, looks better than stock, and is very comfortable. Highly recommended.

*Edit: More listening, a very confident vote for these H pads, from memory, I think they move the headphone more toward my general preferences. Could just be my old G pads were dead. Who knows.

Thanks for taking the time to share this :+1:!

I am too, the pads are tricky to finesse, so I don’t blame you.

Wonderful news. :hugs:
I’ve made the same changes you have. Adds a terrific dimension to the headphone itself in both comfort and performance. :hugs:

Yes, I am really happy. I spent the week exclusively with the D8K pro before getting the new pads so that my brain was thoroughly adjusted to them vs. other headphones and so I can feel confident that the switch represents an improvement for my own preferences. This is really a great headphone IMO.
