@Resolve Can you repost where you got to with your EQ for the D8000 Pro?
You tweaked it a bit after your review but the images above aren’t loading for me.

Very cool. Resoundingly positive. Thanks for the link. Now I just hope he listens to the original D-8000 and shares his thoughts.
Hey my friend. I got the ZMF Cresent headband strap.
Really allows for different ergonomics with the d-8000 itself. I felt they kind of blew it with the original headband. It certainly needs more padding to help support the weight of the cups.
I can also say I really think the G pads are better than the F-pads.
Anyhow. I’m pretty happy. The comfort and proper venting has improved greatly
I ended up getting the Beautiful Audio custom made pad specifically for them. Fits great and adds a lot of squish, doesn’t look added on.
Then I bend the “rods” a bit to loose the clamp. Sitting pretty now.
Glad to hear it. It is such a great headphone, but the comfort at first needed some work. This September I’ll have had them for a year, so I’m still in the honeymoon stage with them. Any genre of music I throw at them they do very well. The tuning is very special.
Are they as good with classical as everyone says? I have somehow missed these every single show I’ve been at, and they’re the first thing I’m going to try at CanJam New York. Hopefully we will have an LE around as well.
Can you share pics of the pads? Who did you work with for them?
I actually found it pretty comfortable (small head), but they are indeed a weighty hp.
Fwiw, I personally wouldn’t pick it over a mysphere or utopia solely for classical. But it also depends on what classical you listen to and what you like to listen for. D8kp is still good though as they excel a lot with texture, and the timbre on brass and woodwinds is . They are a very good all-rounder imo.
I agree with this take. I pick the Susvara and Mysphere just as much for classical as I do my D8KPLE. BUT there are things that the Final does better, mostly in the lower frequencies but it also just presents differently. I feel like its a good complimentary to the Susvara, the hifiman being a bit more mid focused and the d8k being a little less so.
I’ll agree with this as well, what the D8KP does better than any other headphone I own including the Susvara/Utopia and 1266, is convey the shape and texture of bass notes, that’s most apparent on the way bass guitars present to me. Staging can be a bit of a mixed bag, and depends a lot on what you are looking for, it comes across “hyper focused” on some source gear
It’s the only headphone I still own I actually struggled to “get”, while I was impressed with the Bass right out of the box, it took me a few days of listening to “get” the overall presentation and really like what it was doing.
It is a damn good all rounder, and it’s not overly demanding of what it’s plugged into.
Beautiful Audio are a NZ based modder of Grado cans. They just happen to have made a very specific D8000 headband pad. Mine is the full leather one. Fits perfect, basically just “rolls” around the headband and stays on, no clips/velcro etc, works a treat. And it looks pretty close to as if it was just from factory like that, which I like. Has a tiny pair of magnets at each end but it barely needs them.
I think that the D-8000 pro receives stronger praises for classical music over the original D-8000. To be honest. I’ve never heard the pro tuning. I bought the original because of the bass elevation.
I would the love to hear the pro and see how it competes with the HD 800 for classical music. For me right now, I’ve never heard a better headphone for classical music than the Hd 800. The original D-8000 is excellent, but I love how wide and grand the Hd 800 is with concert hall type music.
The Pro still has a fuller denser sound than the HD800. HD800 is still wider with more “nothingness” between those very spaced out sounds.
I can honestly picture that. Sounds right to me. Also for the record. I’ve never heard a wider sounding headphone than the HD 800.
Thought I’d post a few pics and updates here. So I put the H-Type Washi Pads on my original D-8000 and it is excellent because the H-Type pads provide the best seal around your ears. The bass is more refined and linear sounding I feel. Overall a great pad and a worthy purchase.
Secondly. The D-8000 has just been a great headphone for me. The tuning is highly agreeable and the synergy with my existing equipment has been absolutely terrific. I don’t think I’ll be budging from my current mothership rack for a very long time.
Thanks again for the tip on the ZMF Crescent Snap for the D8000. I have an OG D8000 heading my way after years of wanting to hear one, and I went ahead and snagged a Crescent Snap during the ZMF November sale for $39.99. Seems like a great option for any D8000 owners out there still using the stock headband, definitely while it’s on sale!
I’m going to stick to the stock F-pads at first, but I may try the G and H-pads eventually. Looks like those H-pads are pretty expensive.
You are incredibly welcome. You’ll love the headband and the price you got it for is absolutely amazing. Great deal. I ended up paying more at the time.
Anyhow. Would love your feedback once you get everything together. Personally I think the headband adds a whole other level of comfort. The weight of the headphone itself is much better distributed because of the headband.
Also. Yes. Those Washi pads need to come down in price, however I find they are the best pad for the D-8000 by quite a large margin. Guess Final knew that. Lol you get what you pay for.
Cheers friend.
I can’t remember, did you ever try the G pads from the Pros on your OG D8000, or did you go from the stock F pads to the H pads? There are a few supporters of G pads on the OG, but you might be the only person I’ve seen that has tried the H pads on the OG.
Yes. I have all 3 “type pads.” “F” “G” and of course the “H” type Pads.
To be honest. None are terrible, but like I was saying the H type pads I think are the best. The G pads are nice and plush, but they are actually too soft material wise and don’t really gel that well with the heavy construction of the headphone cups themselves. The seal isn’t as tight around the circumference of cups as well.
Definitely experiment if you can, but lately I have not done any pad rolling because the “H” type pads are really just that excellent.
Lastly. The G pads are better than the F pads. That would be a decent upgrade for you to start with.
