Here’s a shot of my pandemic-required second (micro) listening station. It was tough fitting even this much in my work area, as we had to suddenly rely on two home offices. Photos are nearly impossible.
- This system combines an HD-600, P20, and ZenDAC. It’s a contender for best audio quality at $500 (My Focal and Schiit stuff is in my non-work listening area).
- The sound is smooth and relaxing, but the dynamics are modest (as expected for the HD-600). This is great for listening all day, as I’m often distracted by work or the super attractive images on my tablet.
- The porg was not alive before I squished it under glass. However, I hear porgs are great eating and would join any of you on a hunt.
- Thank you Apple for making this possible via your camera adapter. I’m able to power the ZenDAC and iPad with the same line. I do not thank you Apple for your reliance on goofy dongles and guaranteed lousy cable management.
- Obligatory Purple content: P20 tube lighting and the iFi factory RCA interconnect.
