Amazing work, it would be really useful to know what eartips were used for this measurement, or if you use a standard memory foam tip for all etc.

many thanks

@listen_r: I have a question of understanding: If you do this for the Meze Empyrean II, will your result much differ from Resolves measurements and EQ settings from following thread?

For the beginning of each preset it varies, but it’s usually somewhere centered in the mids.

Which pads did you want done?

Hey there, thanks! It’s an average of multiple units using the stock narrow bore tips.

Only one way to find out!

Meze Empyrean II

Confidence: MEDIUM-LOW

Uses data from B&K 5128 and B&K 4128

Preamp: -5.6 dB
Filter 1: ON PK Fc 20 Hz Gain 1.5 dB Q 1.400
Filter 2: ON LSC Fc 75 Hz Gain 4.5 dB Q 0.500
Filter 3: ON PK Fc 190 Hz Gain -4.5 dB Q 0.600
Filter 4: ON PK Fc 450 Hz Gain 1.1 dB Q 0.700
Filter 5: ON PK Fc 1500 Hz Gain 2.4 dB Q 2.100
Filter 6: ON HSC Fc 3500 Hz Gain -4.5 dB Q 0.700
Filter 7: ON PK Fc 4800 Hz Gain 3.0 dB Q 3.000
Filter 8: ON PK Fc 7000 Hz Gain 3.2 dB Q 2.000
Filter 9: ON PK Fc 6300 Hz Gain -4.0 dB Q 2.000
Filter 10: ON PK Fc 3500 Hz Gain -1.0 dB Q 4.000

Adjust band 2 for overall bass
Adjust band 6 for overall treble

Resolve’s EQ

Resolve’s EQ (yellow) vs mine (pink)

So we’ve arrived at broadly similar conclusions. Resolve left more treble in and had slightly warmer mids going, but without that difference they’d likely be fairly hard to distinguish.

Thanks a lot, I will try this in the evening.

Lovely, thank you very much!
Could it be useful to include eartip information on further measurements and resulting EQ’s?

(as far as I understand they impact the frequency response a fair bit, and it could be useful to be able to use measurements as a more accurate basis for further tweaking)

But how do you work out the spot?

Depending where you normalize it can make the graph look completely different.

I don’t know if you can EQ the Campfire Cascade or not. All the measurements were from ages ago. But if you can, that will be greatly appreciated thanks

If I had done most of these measurements myself, I would. But for most of the IEM measurements I don’t have that information. For the Hexa measurement I know thanks to Crin, Resolve, and an undisclosed 3rd source telling me they all used narrow tips that that’s what’s used.

I know its not the most scientific answer, but generally the only real “rules” I follow are that I want to normalize in a spot where the response is generally consistent across heads (so, between 400 Hz - 1 kHz) I want to be cutting more than I’m boosting.

Past that, honestly I just kinda go by vibes

Apologies, there’s only one measurement I can find and thus the confidence in this EQ will be very low.

Campfire Cascade

Confidence: VERY LOW

Uses data from GRAS KB50xx (thanks to Crinacle)

Preamp: -0.7 dB
Filter 1: ON PK Fc 20 Hz Gain 1.5 dB Q 1.000
Filter 2: ON PK Fc 142 Hz Gain -9.5 dB Q 0.500
Filter 3: ON PK Fc 360 Hz Gain 4.0 dB Q 1.800
Filter 4: ON PK Fc 630 Hz Gain 1.1 dB Q 1.400
Filter 5: ON PK Fc 4350 Hz Gain 3.0 dB Q 3.000
Filter 6: ON PK Fc 5500 Hz Gain -5.2 dB Q 2.000
Filter 7: ON PK Fc 7500 Hz Gain 4.2 dB Q 2.000
Filter 8: ON PK Fc 10650 Hz Gain -10.0 dB Q 2.000

Adjust every filter if they seem wrong, again I have very little confidence in this.

I wanted to spend some time with the LCD-5 preset before I commented, but I can now say with some confidence that it is the best preset I have ever heard on them, including some of my own and oratory1990’s. Well done! I was admittedly skeptical, especially after trying some of the previous 5128 targets here.

Of course, I still tweak it a bit towards my own taste. :sunglasses:

Hi listener! Can you please do 490 Pro with producer pads? I would really appreciate that. :slightly_smiling_face:

Reading that back a day later and I want to clarify: I meant other 5128 based targets on this forum in other topics, NOT other 5128 based presets here in this topic.

All of the presets I have tried from this topic have been so good, they are replacing the presets I was previously using. That includes Focal Clear, Hifiman HE6se V2, and Audeze LCD-5. The only exception is the Sennheiser HD 800 S, which I still use the preset below 500 hz and my own above 500 hz.

Yeah I have had good results EQing my Grado SR125x off of oratory1990’s SR60e preset, so this doesn’t surprise me. I’m definitely looking forward to trying your Average Grado preset soon.
