Unfortunately, the stock tips are super fatiguing for me.
I tried all three sizes and the only ones that make a good seal also make my ears very sore after a half hour or so.
I just went out and got a new Skullcandy Ink’d to see if the tips are any different, and it appears that they’re identical to the skullcandy tips that were the most comfortable on the B2.
And on a side note, the new Ink’d is actually surprisingly decent! The old model sounded like you were listening to music through a paper cup, but the new ones are more resolving and surprisingly well tuned.
I got the CP145’s in a few days ago and I’ve been wearing the IE300’s close to nonstop without issue. I’m not sure what exactly they do different, they just don’t hurt!
I received both earbuds immediately after their release. Since then I have had the IE300, now the IE900, in my ear for many hours every day.
If you look at the reviews on YouTube or in the trade press, you will see that there is not a single bad review for both.
Based on my experience, I can only confirm these findings.
With the 300‘s, you get an excellent earphone, which the 900’s has even more Sound quality with a little more definition in all frequency ranges, a touch more spatiality and more precise bass resolution.
Oh, I was asked how punchy the bass is presented, the answer is: very neat!
But what fascinates me most is the very pronounced tonal “naturalness” of these two earphones, this is often my problem with the vast majority of ChiFi earphones, the tonality of which often annoys me More befor I am satisfied.
Due to these mentioned qualities, I would personally prefer these two in-ear‘s to their respective over-ear „partners“!
With Sennheiser it is no different than with all other premium manufacturers, sometimes (Not allways) you pay a disproportionately high surcharge for audible but not exorbitant sound improvements.
Unlike the various models from Campfire Audio or 64 Audio, for example, the tonality and sound signature of these two headphones is at least in a very similar direction.
So it is actually almost all about improved fine tonal nuances, with which the surcharge is justified.
The IE300 is, for example, in combination with a Fiio BTR 5, a MUCH inexpensive but really VERY good choice to enjoy your music collection with satisfaction.
Thanks
I am certainly intrigued by both IEMs due to my experience with Beyerdynamic HPs. I like the German approach with focus on usability and output over how it looks.
I’m still interested just thrown off. I watched one review, can’t remember which one and they mentioned it was a normal 2 pin iem cable so figured it was easily swappable.
Unfortunately, they are proprietary MMCX cable connections. The “problem area” is drawn in red, as the green section „sinks“ into the in-ear connector.
Haha when I first saw the IE900 cable I thought that it did look quite a bit like the Z1R from a functionality standpoint.
Though IMO the difference is that the Z1R has the almost gaudy bling look while the IE900 has gross rubbery look that you can almost feel through the screen. IME as a sound tech I’ve seen random cheap stage IEMs with this sort of rubbery sheathe on the cable and I would only give it to the people in the band I liked least
