I like your list. A lot I don’t know but I agree with all the ones in wildly different genres that I do know.

I hope you can find some in my list you don’t know and like!
I wish everyone would post such lists - I’m always on the hunt for good new music - doesn’t even have to be spectacular…
It can even be fun to listen to smth someone really loves and try to get a feeling why - even if I don’t like it that much… Is that already crazy? :slight_smile:

btw. I can’t edit the post anymore and I have to add, that “Hot Rod Lincoln” has to be the one from the album Lost in the Ozone.
The live version and the other versions suck imho

I have a few versions of Hot Rod Lincoln on several CC and his LPA. I’ve posted a link to a list that I previously posted on Electric-Avenues.com in the music for testing headphones. I plan to try out a few of your selections.
Music that thrills you - #12 by pennstac
Is a post I did here some time ago. Strongly suggest you try the Offenbach at reasonable volume. Great on speakers. If you have kids ages 3 to 6, I guarantee they’ll be dancing around the house.

The first thing I did when I came to this forum was listening to all the suggested songs in this thread and man I am so thankful that you reminded me of Santana! I forgot how great his music is! And yeah! Offenbach was new to me and it’s in my “hear again and again” list now :slight_smile:
(I’m a Amazon Music listener mostly meanwhile - they have so much in high quality now and I don’t have the money for vinyl)

Edit:
Just found the list on Electric Avenue!! bye (listening :slight_smile: )

Edit:
I’m between beeing stunned and wanting to use some massive swear words for your list :slight_smile: Instead I can only say boring stuff like amazing! fantastic! and so on…
Thank you!

Like others here, I use a long list of familar & beloved tunes to assess headphones, amps, speakers, etc. These are 2 I often come back to:

Donald Fagen’s “Morph the Cat.” The opening transient from this tune is a real gut-check for audio gear. Turn it up as loud as you want–it always sound smooth as silk (it’s beautifully recorded):

“Stairway to the Stars” from Milt Jackson & John Coltrane’s 1959 collaboration, “Bags and Trane.” The vibraphone is well known for being difficult to record. Well, they managed pretty well here. Both players are really on top for this recording:

Apocalyptica Shadowmaker. This group employs classical techniques with a heavy metal mix. They are all classical trained artists with outstanding vocals.

This whole album is a sleeper hit, but particularly the opening track thrills me EVERY TIME. :smiley:

When it comes to inspiring, captivating and rousing music, a lot of soundtracks to various films always spring to mind.

Firstly, they were produced to thrill people and secondly, they are often produced in excellent audio quality.

And at least passages of these songs get everyone off their seats. In the car in particular, the steering wheel is often misused as a drum kit;

on the chair, light foot tapping quickly develops into rhythmic stamping movements;

in the armchair it becomes restless because the whole body wants to move

and these kind of songs often give an extra portion of motivation for sport.

In addition, most people associate a lot of memories with these songs and the special time when they were popular.

With this film and this soundtrack, over 500% more people signed up to join the military voluntarily than in previous years.

With this film, sales of beige men’s jackets with shoulder pads and sunglasses rose to unprecedented heights. It became fashionable to wear sunglasses even indoors and in the dark :sunglasses:

And so on……
