I’m a big fan of original scores in game soundtracks. Started playing PS4’s Ghost of Tsushima last night and…well…I’ll just leave this here for everyone’s listening pleasure: https://open.qobuz.com/album/rtlhfion265ec
BASS.
This sounds fantastic on headphones but simply marvelous on speakers!
Ok, so this is good.
I had no idea what I was getting in to here so I started track one and got the voice over with that rumble/growl in the background. Given the production company had nordic in its title I kind of half expected some kind of Norwegian death metal.
What? No. This is good stuff man!
Pfffftttt… Nordic death metal… Dressed as a cat… Sheesh.
It’s instru-techno. If that’s a thing. I don’t know.
It is now. It’s shockingly good. Got the album on my favourites now. Im most partial to Robots in Motion right now but going to go through this album a few times.
Tulipani is my favourite of your recent postings. You are right about the Stapleton song, a good speaker set up would be awesome with that. Headphones are good but the open sound of speakers would light that up.
I’m glad you liked it. Tulipani is a terrific track and that album was very well recorded.
As for Death Row, yeah speakers give some palpable bass where you actually feel it instead of hearing it, and yes it’s a lot more spacious on speakers.
I listened to those tracks this afternoon on my speakers, now switched to headphones to avoid disturbing the significant other and neighbors.
Why I dont/cant have speakers outside of the usual home theatre set up. Saves me money I guess.
I just thought of a good analogy. It’s like Lindsay Sterling, but without going full retard on the dubstep.
I actually thought very much along those lines. A more refined version of Lindsay Sterling given the influences Im hearing.
Been browsing his releases, I like them quite a bit and I am not necessarily into this kind of music, but, this is done well. I appreciate the sensibility and how balanced it is, there’s no crazy bass obscuring everything, in fact he uses it in very subtle ways here and there, the mastering is very good, its melodic. Thanks for posting this one.
The label clearly says to use a lightweight pickup. Portable record players didn’t have lightweight pickups.
@pennstac - I don’t know that much about vinyl, but does look like that invaluable record is suffering some kind of death by Crosley!
