I’m enjoying the HD-6xx with my Eufonika H7m OTL tube amp more than I have ever liked them before. Better soundstage, nice detail, even bass sounds like it’s there and slammy, no longer mid-bass focused. Well controlled. I figure this is the limit of Sennheiser six hundred series scaling. iFi xDSD in line out mode and USB input to the iPad.
Usually I go for speakers at work, but I had some surveys and CE to work on.
Dion, - Girl Friends
Legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dion delivers a new album that transcends generations: Girl Friends. His latest from KTBA Records sees him collaborating with a stellar lineup of female artists including the soulful Susan Tedeschi, powerhouse Shemekia Copeland, icon Carlene Carter, virtuoso Joanne Shaw Taylor, and the versatile Maggie Rose, among others. Dion’s timeless voice, and the distinct styles of these acclaimed artists, create a fusion celebrating the rich tapestry of American music.
Yeah – SRV gone in 1990, Albert King a couple years later.
The recording date was late 1983, I think in preparation for some sort of special on Canadian TV though I’ve never seen any video of that. Why it took 16 years to get released, I have no idea.
It’s a bit of a rough ask, because the first is a blues-influenced instrumental version of a song that has lyrics (written by Peggy Lee) from 1954, and the second is a jazz/blues standard from 1963. Point being: the blues.
There’s not a ton of instrumental blues, because the artists have to tell you why (and how bad) they got the blues, man. BB King’s “Easy Listening Blues” is instrumental (and not “easy listening” genre). I can’t think of others off the top of my head, though there are probably a few.
Since you like SRV’s “Chitlins Con Carne” you might check out the original release by Kenny Burrell, an album called “Midnight Blue”.
Just happened to have the OTL amp on and my Sennheiser 6xx handy.
As @robson says, very interesting.
As @chrisnyc75 says, but we have Beyoncé singing C&W
I’m not sure which would be scarier as a prospective spouse. This is the sort of comment that I recall typically being made by lads of 15 or so. Ones that look like neither Odin nor John Wayne.
