What are the chances that an update to this model is in the works? (I know everything is in the works for years, but will a new model ship in the next year?)
AirPods Pro 2 are almost 2 years old now, so of course there are rumors about AirPods Pro 3. Fall is usually the release date, so it could be in a few months, or it could be in a year and a few months. I haven’t looked that closely, but the rumored new features I’ve read about have nothing to do with sound quality.
AirPods Max are older (2020 debut), and I would say we are therefore more likely to see AirPods Max 2 in Fall of this year.
But that’s all guessing. “You pays your money and you takes your chances.”

Yes, and Apple will happily take your money coming and going… (but so will any manufacturer I suppose).
