I had the Unison in my Bifrost 1 for a few months…finally sold it. IMO if you use USB as your main interface its the best implementaion I have heard…another nice re-do of this popular interface. And Mike Moffat prefers this over the othe digital interfaces.
Quick impressions of the Yggdrasil with the unison usb interface:
This is a much better usb card than the gen5.
There is no perceivable signal noise, soundstage and dynamics seem to have improved a decent amount. There seems to be more added lower end “slam” going on (might just be due to quieter back ground but hard to tell).
Haven’t been able to get much time in due to celebrating my wife’s birthday, but I am excited to get more listening hours in!
For $150 this is a great improvement!
Really wanting to upgrade to Unison, with my Gungnir Multibit, but I can’t imagine being days without it, while Schiit is installing it. I love my Gumby, and am quite happy with Gen 5, but that itch to upgrade has started. I am patiently reading the reviews as they come in, and just might do the upgrade eventually.
Well, I did it… I was gonna wait until next month but my turntable stand shows up today for next to my stressless… and well… you know how it goes… LOL! Is the stock tube cool to use for awhile or should I switch it immediately?

Congrats!!! Let us know about it!! I have my eyes on Lyr ( already have Bifrost).
Will do! Thank you!
If you ordered the TungSol, it’s just dandy.
They only had one option to order a tube, JJ 6SN7 (New)|1| not sure which that is and if it’s decent? Brand new to Tube Rolling.
I would stick with the stock tube, and listen with it for a good couple of weeks to a month, so you can get a feel for the sound of the amp. Then once you get accustomed to the overall sound, figure out what you would like more or less of, as in bass, mids and treble. Then once you are there, I will be more than willing to point you in the right direction for your next tube. I learned how to tube roll with the Lyr 3, and have rolled all of the popular 6sn7 tubes, so can offer some decent advice. I know ther are some others here, that shared that journey with me, and I am sure they will help as well. The Lyr 3 is a super fun amp, and I really want to buy another one some day.
Awesome thank you @Wes_S that is great advice and I will take it!
congrats Marcello!
This will be fantastic!
I am with you on the month earlier thing…
lol right, it’s hard to be patient sometimes when it comes to stuff you enjoy!
Yep- why I ordered the Sennheiser HD 650 an hour ago
plan was to sell the 660s FIRST, get a Tube amp and use it with the DT1990 Pro (last chance before sell it)
and get my loved and missed HD600 back
give the 650 a chance and got a really good deal on the 2019 updated model… pure chaos over here
LOL! I love my 6XX which is very similar to 650!
Lyr 3 in the house!!! Enjoy !!!
Or is not ?? Bifrost ?!
It’s both! Thank you @Hansel !!! Unboxed them and moved them into the stand behind the boxes underneath my turntable.
Would love to hear your thoughts on them in a speaker system rather than headphones if you use speakers. I’m torn between these and the RME ADI DAC2 fs which both represent excellence at their price range but I only use speakers. Really interested in soundstage width/depth and imaging precision/clarity in a speaker system. Enjoy your new rig, I’m sure it’s going to but an unending grin on your face hahaha.
They are not currently hooked up into a speaker chain, but that is on my list of things to do this year. The LYR 3 has the connections on the back to run to powered speakers so I have already begun researching powered speakers and soliciting advice hahah.
