Sennheiser HDB 630 Wireless Headphones - Official Discussion Thread

I am certainly getting these, just saw two reviews today and I’m sold. This is ticking literally every box as an audio enthusiast. The only problem being that I have to pay off my Tungsten/iha1/centaurus purchase first. Another box I want to tick is supporting headphones.com so it’s good that my wallet isn’t in line with the pre-purchase window. I want to start PEQ however implementing it in my life is proving delayed and difficult. I don’t feel educated enough on frequency responses, I want to listen to my tungsten first, and I’m unsure how I would add it into my critical listening plan/time. This kind of throws all of those difficulties out the window. I can just plop down on my couch, open up the app and A/B test everything.

In a separate vein; one of my past times is making “entry/mid” fi recommendations for people who aren’t exactly in the hobby but want to be within a given budget. Currently the $500 price range has been the sweet spot for wired solutions. ~$100 ea for a dac and amp then $300 for a headphone. It’s really difficult to suggest someone spends a large chunk of their budget on thing’s they assume everything already has. Trying to explain that while it’s not the most bang for the buck purchase, a dac and amp are basically required to get into this as a hobby. A lot of people don’t want a “hobby” and just want a good solution.

Until now I haven’t heard of wired solutions being compared to wireless solutions, I will admit that I limit my review watching for my wallet’s sake. In my book there hasn’t been an audiophile grade wireless headphone. There’s Bose and Sony which I’m sure are great, but always had that consumer grade connotation so I never gave them any heed. I’ve recently seen the Focal Bathys mentioned but given my aversion to wireless…. I didn’t even click on those reviews.

In my book these are THE headphone, reviews given as destroying the competition with no asterisk…. from sources I respect? Yeah these will be my first purchase after paying off my “to me summit fi chain”.

*edit: these headphones will teach me FRC and PEQ better than anything I own.
