Several years ago, the Smyth Realiser was advertised as a device that measured the audio in your listening room (or someone else’s listening room) and then allowed you to hear music over headphones that simulated the in-room listening experience. There were a lot of complaints and delays in getting this device built and in the hands of people who paid for it up front. But I haven’t seen any serious reviews of this device in several years. It’s still advertised for sale at $4700 plus shipping and tax.
So has anyone tried it, and what did you think?

I haven’t heard one but I’ve read comments about it from a few people who have and they all say it is the closest thing to actual speakers they have ever heard. I’d be tempted to save up for one except I don’t have access to a good enough speaker setup to calibrate it to. To me, the need for that is the biggest drawback. I mean, if I had a great speaker system I wouldn’t need a Realiser.
I think you can get files that others have made for the Smyth Realiser in their high quality listening rooms.
