The Anime Thread

Higehiro stalled a bit for me. About halfway through it. Still cranking through my hero academia.

Oddtaxi is a gem. 86 I need to watch more of and vivy fluorite gives me a vibe of being something special just got to find time to watch it.

Not sure what my pick for anime of the year will be, quite varied field.

Oh, the new updated Funimation app is buggy as hell. UI is better but needs some stability. Still doesn’t play on AppleTV, which makes no sense as crunchy has no issues.

I’d put it last on my priority, but I get it when you just want to finish it too.

I usually only include what’s actually finished…if it’s still continuing next season (ie. 86/vivy) I’ll exclude it. That should narrow it a bit more.

Can’t relate…I use the web version exclusively. Hopefully, Sony will do something with the acquisition of Crunchy and just merge the damn service already.

For Made in Abyss fans. The movie Dawn of the Deep Soul debuted today on HIDIVE.
Just got finished watching it, really enjoyed it.

You can sign up for a free month of HiDive if you just want to see the movie.

It was indeed a nice watch! Great OST as well…

Bondrewd was an A+ antagonist!

Now I regret watching Youtube spoilers on the rest of the storyline… :sob:

Legend of Ragnarok.

There was some hype about this show and I guess Netflix recently let it out of jail.

Watched the first two episodes. Painful. Will not be continuing it. I dont care how good it may get if I have to subject myself to this kind of tedium to get to anything watchable or entertaining. Utter nonsense IMO. Some may like it but I most certainly do not.

Although I don’t always agree with MAL, I checked the score beforehand and nope! I ain’t watching it.

Thanks for your sacrifice…

Ha!

It really was tough to watch. I have no idea why there was any kind of hype for this at all. WTF was Netflix thinking with this one? I should have checked online reviews first but I hadn’t been on Netflix for a while and just opened it up to see if anything new had arrived. It was sitting there all pretty so thought I’d give it a try as I recalled it being mentioned as something to look out for when in actual fact it is sometime to run far, far away from.

It’s the manga…apparently it’s good but I don’t really have an interest reading it.

I’m hoping they come out with something good this year. I do see a sequel for Knights of Sidonia (a movie). It was a Netflix thing for two seasons and I thought it was pretty good. Hopefully it comes to netflix (or anywhere really)…

Oh, btw the ending for wonder egg priority releases today on funi if anyone watched it last season.

I tried watching wonder egg but it seemed heavier than what I was looking for at the time. Might go back to it, but I say that about a lot of anime that sits in my queue.

Im still traumatized by things like Made in Abyss and Your Lie in April so anything that seems like it may be remotely similar puts me on edge.

Oh man, then you’ll probably want to stay away from my anime of the season rec…

To Your Eternity? I heard that is a pretty soul sucking one. I have watched a lot of cheerful, simpler anime lately so it’s getting time for me to jump in to the heavier series.

So Im saying, essentially, to bring it!

Nah, not that one.

I’ll post about it real soon. Wanna finish some shows first to make sure it deserves the spot. I highly doubt it will be topped tho, imo.

Im curious now? Wonder if its something Im not even aware of or havent started or finished.

Was able to finish Megalobox 2 and it was quite good; definitely worth a watch.

Megalobox 1 was good too but the plot was so generic that it was easily forgettable. It was still enjoyable nonetheless and the OST was a definite standout. So, if you’re remotely interested in boxing or karate kid / Rocky movie storylines this is for you.

Megalobox 2, on the other hand, went in a completely different direction. It’s definitely more down-to-earth dealing with topics such as survival, family, well-being, death, and confrontation. The ending might have been a bit anticlimactic but it headed in the right direction considering the narrative they went for.

Streaming on Funimation / Hulu…

I watched part of Ep 1 a while ago and it seemed like a departure from the original, which I agree was enjoyable if not particularly memorable.

I’m thinking about what series to line up next as a lot of them are now complete and I can watch them with some momentum. Should finish Oddtaxi and Higehiro first, though.

Which ones are you still planning on watching/finishing?

Oddtaxi, Higehiro, 86, Vivy, Iruma (actually up to date with that one), plan to start To Your Eternity soon. There are some other older shows that I have partially watched as well but those are the ones foremost on my mind as recent releases.

There’s likely a few more on my watch list that I am forgetting. I am also still burning through My Hero Aca and am almost done S3. I still want to finish Food Wars as I got a kick out of that one. There’s the isekai on Funi - Mushoku tensei which is a lot better and different then some reviews initially indicated.

Im probably missing something obvious. There are also some true garbage shows I occasioanlly watch but will not mention here.

How did Tokyo Revengers slip my mind!

I got real busy a while back so a lot of the series I was keeping up with got paused, just going through the watch list to see what I still have on the go.

Still reading the manga for that along with to your eternity; both are quite good so far.
