Also on Netflix, The Remarkable Life Of Ibelin. Mats Steen, a man born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, became increasingly unable to participate in everyday activities. As a result, he spent most of his time playing video games, particularly World of Warcraft. His parents worried it would cause him to miss out on life, unaware of what he was doing in the game. His character, Ibelin Redmoore, positively affected many other players, and deeply connected with several included in the film. What is especially neat is that the animators of the ‘game’ section of the film had access to over 40,000 archived posts from Ibelin’s character and used the avatars and the game backgrounds to created the on-going story in a way that allows the viewer to see and hear things as Mats did. Well worth a watch.
Monday and time for some fun

It’s kind of funny that you wrote it like that.
Last week I decided to downsize and sold about 90% of my equipment to a dealer.
So from 100%
to 10%
within a week.
I kept the headphones that make me want to listen to them, that give me the emotionality of the music that I really like PERSONALLY.
In the future I will always have the opportunity to test any headphones, amps or DACs I want at three excellent headphone dealers with whom I have excellent contacts.
Because I’ve never really been able to „enjoy“ anything with analytical sound chains, I always try to experience something SPECIAL in terms of sound, without losing the natural character of the tonality.
The headphones, amps and DACs that I’ve kept give me exactly these properties.
And the Bayern Munich Mug ……..
All the HiFiMan’s, Audeze’s, Focal’s, Warwick’s and Raal’s are technically outstanding headphones, but they don’t give me any personal satisfaction in terms of sound, which may be completely different for other HiFi lovers.
As long as Zach Merbach and Antonio Meze don’t lose their mojo, I will continue to support these two headphone brands by buying their products.
In my opinion, Sennheiser and also Grado & Bayerdynamic have lost this mojo, both keep throwing products onto the market without any real development, on the contrary.
All brands that I used to value very much because they were innovative in their time, but are resting on their past success or have run out of ideas.
But that’s just a personal opinion, nothing more and nothing less.
I’m with you Lothar, which is why I also love the ZMFs I have. Each brings real enjoyment and engagement when listening to music, which at the end of the day is what it’s all about. They may not be as “technically proficient” to some other headphone listeners, whatever…
The only other headphone I own that I feel similarly about is the Rosson, which seems to be out of business now (unfortunately). No Meze in my lineup, but I bet I would like it.
I’m keeping my Utopia though, as it’s an interesting counterpoint to the Atrium.
You have a lovely collection, enjoy!
Man, say it’s not so. I love my Rosson. They deserve to succeed.
Yeah, if you go to their website they have no inventory, and now have a history of not fulfilling orders for parts or responding to emails.
If you look at the head-fi thread for Rosson there are multiple reports of orders for replacement pads going unfulfilled, but they take your money. This has happened to me as well. They’ve not responded to multiple emails I’ve sent them.
Many of us have had to dispute the charge, myself included. I don’t know what happened to Alex or the company.
Supposedly Dekoni Lcd-5 replacement pads work for the Rosson, but I haven’t ordered any yet so can’t comment on that.
It’s a sad turn of events for Rosson… and us.
OMG!

What’s the price? What sizes do they come in?
The demagnetized version is around $297 and the hyper, super extra deluxe version is $355
Mike
Good to see reasonable pricing.
But right now I have to save up for the directional speaker cables with charge carriers of semi-Dirac fermions (shout-out to @pennstac). Since the particles are massless when moving in the direction of the speaker, timing anomalies within the cable are eliminated and the image stability is vastly improved.
Anything left over from that purchase can go toward the ear swabs.
I will only buy it if it’s been cryogenically treated.
I have tried unsuccessfully with 3 AI programs to photograph the floor standing Klein bottle bass reflex speakers I like. They have no measurable volume, a manifold accomplishment. Nice wood grain too.
So sometimes you’ve had more than enough of the usual Christmas Playlists. With the help of AI, I created a playlist full of sarcasm, vitriol, despair and angst. And Christmas Cheer. It’s NSFW, so you are warned.
