Ever since I first heard about this DAC, I have wanted to get my hands on one. When it finally came out, waited a short period of time and picked one up. Sold a well-regarded DAC to fund the purchase. I really didn’t need this, but curiosity got the best of me.

Have to report, this is one impressive DAC. In the past, have steered clear of Topping products. That impression changed with the DX-9, which is an excellent buy at its price point. The D900 is very impressive. It seems to do everything very well. Dynamics, deep and wide soundstage, deep and well-defined bass, amazing vocal clarity, extended treble. It does everything extremely well. Combine the DAC with a quality input and a high-end headphone amp, the sound is IMHO, reference level. I have owned a Chord Hugo TT2 in the past, and I actually prefer this overall. Who would have thought it?

Anyone else own or have auditioned this?

Hi, I bought the D900 a couple of months ago and compared it to my Cen Grand DSDAC 1.0 Deluxe. I sold the Cen Grand and kept the D900, an extraordinary DAC, a real giant!

Wow that’s high praise indeed. The Cen Grand DAC is very expensive. I have the Little Silver Fox headphone amp and it sounds great as well.

Just picked up the matching A900 headphone amp. This combination (D0900/A900) sounds amazing. It’s like getting a complete upgrade of your headphone collection. IMHO, it sounds incredibly clear. I didn’t realize just how low the distortion levels that could be obtained until I heard this combination. Distortion is noticeably lower than any other setup I’ve heard to date. The sound retains the natural timbre and openness.
