Such a great picture. The symmetry, lighting, color, just really nice.
Thank you, the red in the back was from a little LED panel, the EL34s don’t make such a pretty glow on their own…I took this for the Raal guys for the website but I think they have discontinued the amp since.
Elrog discontinued the 5U4G? If that’s true I’m sure glad I got one when I did, it’s a helluva tube.
They told me they weren’t making anymore for the foreseeable future due to the metals needed to make them.
Damn, what is that?! One heck of a pic for your first post, welcome to the forum!
Agreed. Very Impressive.

Very nice, looks sweet!
Has anyone tried multiple EML Mesh 5U4G tubes? I’m pretty sure the one I currently have is a bit warmer than my previous one that I used on the Stratus. I’ll give this one some more time but it’s definitely warmer for sure. Wonder if there variance…?
Contrast: the one I have is a bit less warm than TubeDepot.com | TAD 5U4G REDBASE Premium Selected (Stellaris Special).
That EML is the only one I’ve heard, but can definitely confirm it is remarkably warm. It’s possible Stellaris reacts differently to it than Stratus did?
Yeah that’s what I’m hearing from others. I think the audio note transformers are pulling more warmth from them. It’s not terrible at all but I’m enjoying the GEC U52 so far. I’ll try the Elrog once I get some more 2.5A fuses.
The Elrog is massively better, IMO - leaves me wanting for nothing.
Well I ordered a Tung Sol 6CG7 from a seller on eBay. He has great reviews but he sent me the wrong tube by mistake. I received a 8CG7. He refunded me and said to keep it. It won’t work on the DNA so if anyone wants it I’ll send it for free, just pay for shipping.
What’s new and a glow pic
WE422a with a Deyan adapter to act as the rectifier switch would in the DNA Stellaris. Running the Takatsuki 2A3 to match the yellow labels which you can see little to none of based on how the sockets are configured. Sylvania Gold 6BQ7A to round out tube set for this evening. Too early to make a glowing (pun intended) review but very promising.
That’s cool. I didn’t realize this was an option.
I didn’t either until I thought about what the switch does, at least to my understanding. So I reached out to Deyan and explained what I was looking for. He said no problem and a couple of weeks later, here we are. Caveat, I didn’t ask Donald to confirm. Additionally, others have run the 422a without an adapter and without the switch with the understanding it can/may impact tube lifespan.
Interesting. I may reach out to Donald and see what he thinks. Definitely another option and that’s always cool to try.
Thanks!
