Jason Stoddard just posted this neat pix at head-fi!
A 10 tube “heater” amp for those long winter months!! LOL
It may never see the light of day!
But its certainly will turn some tube heads!!

6N6P’s in the back have no direct replacements.
Are the front two tubes 6N1p or 6922?
6N1P don’t really have 100% direct subs, and I purposely avoid tube equipment with 6922 type tubes, mainly because really good 6922 tubes are getting very difficult to find and becoming extremely pricey, even by today’s NOS tube standards.

What would the point even be of having 10 valves?
If they are power tunes, that means more watts, EX some Jadis amps have 24 x KT90/KT120/KT150, that can produce depending on which tube is used, 350 watts per channel.

Usually it’s done to increase power output either by running them in parallel to increase current output, or just in multiple gain stages to increase Voltage then running that through a transformer to get the current.
I have a pair of 130W Tube monoblocks each one takes 2 pre tubes and 6 power tubes, and will happily heat a fair sized room in Winter.
You can also use output tube in parallel on an OTL design to better drive speakers directly or low impedance headphones.

The long Awaited Valhalla 3 lol now with more tubes
Maybe thats this 10 tube monster?

I think the answer to “why does this exist” is that Schiit is even better at marketing than engineering. Whether or not there is any benefit to having enough valves to power Big Blue, it’s cool! And I’ve bought things for worse reasons.
Zombie thread (I know).
Did anyone see the release of the Modi 3+ DAC?
Unison Usb and some typical Schiit stealth upgrades to the Modi 3. Still just $99.
That and the Vali 2+.
Makes me curious.
They certainly don’t rest on their laurels.
And to judge from impressions online, each new iteration of a model seems to involve a significant improvement, as with the genuine enthusiasm shown for the latest Asgard and Bifrost, to name just two products.
Their stuff is hard to beat at the price point. I’ve cycled through several of their products and have never been disappointed from a ROI standpoint. The bifrost 2 is really special for what it costs. The Lyr 3 with an upgraded tube is also an experience anyone in this hobby with a modest budget should have.
