I know jazz, and western art music (classical) are often what I think of when hearing the term, but I honestly don’t know what differentiates serious audiophile music from everything else.
This could potentially be its own thread, and possibly a video…
That’s more of a joke than anything else - but the idea is more that you’d listen to something for sonic fidelity characteristics rather than for actual enjoyment. I think you could fit any genre into that, but at the time I think @metal571 meant exactly the kind of music I happen to like best, namely jazz, classical, acoustic etc.
One of my favorite Jazz groups…seen them live a dozen times…timeless elevator music, but really a good group of talented musicans from Buffalo New York. This album is very well recorded and very lively:
