Is that the MEST case? What did you think of it?
It’s the Mest mk2.
I thought it was ok but honestly expected something more from it. Nothing really wrong with it, just not exciting for the price (admittedly my only kilobuck IEM experience before it was the Helios, so quite a high bar was set).
Thie audio Monarch Mk II
Moondrop Blessing 2 Dusk
Sennheiser IE300
Moondrop Chu, Samsung Galaxy 2 Pro, Fearless Audio Crinacle Dawn. I really like all 3 of them
- 7hz Timeless
- DUNU SA6
- Sennheiser IE600
All are great, but I like the Timeless best, so that is the one I kept.
Ok, here they are, as of sept ‘21…

Also revisiting in 2022, my top last 3 IEMs that I’ve tried.
Lime Ears Anima - Flagship IEMs from Lime Ears. @Skedra let me listen to his pair. Sound was sublime. I could see a case where people would go for it vs the Empire Ears Odin as the smooth bass on it was very addictive. More subbass presence on it for sure.
Astell&Kern x Campfire Audio Pathfinder - Actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Fun IEM with plenty of bass. Perfect for those looking for the step up from the Solaris or Vega for the extra details without losing the low-end. Definitely not for everyone.
Campfire Audio Trifecta
Did you already get an impression?
This „product“ is “hopefully” already on the way to me, and I have great expectations considering the “extended” pricing.
So far, CA has been able to convince me with most of their products for one reason or another,
so they shouldn’t start disappointing me with their premium product.

Impressions I’ve heard of the Trifecta so far have been quite mixed. I was really hoping to hear it at CanJam this weekend but sadly CFA won’t be there. Check out the Campfire Supermoon if you get a chance-- it’s a game changer imho.
In order of oldest purchase to newest:
-
CFA Ara - My second pair of IEMs and my first pair of kilobucks (though I didn’t pay full fare). I really enjoy their sound profile and they are complimented by the Dorado 2020s. I just haven’t been listening to them much as I have been tip-rolling the latter. Sensitive as all get out but doesn’t hiss on my RebelAmp, Asgard 3, or Qudelix 5K.
-
Moondrop Aria Snow Edition - I bought these to see what they were all about. Not an offensive IEM, but nothing really special. Good for the commute though I want to upgrade the cable - I don’t like the way the plastic jacket feels. Doesn’t hiss at all.
-
CFA Dorado 2020 - My experience so far is that while it’s a very fun IEM, it’s also very eartip/seal dependent. Their shape make them one of the most comfortable IEMs to ear long term (and while wearing a surgical mask). If I could find something with a similar sound signature (Valkyrie mk II, Nio?), but was less seal dependent, I’d replace them. But for now, I’ll keep tip-rolling as it’s cheaper and a fun aspect of the hobby in its own right. Bought them on Drop and think they are worth the sale price.

Pathfinder’s a sleeper imo, more people need to check it out. Will be divisive but also another example of CCA trying new things.
64 Audio Nio (bought)
QKZ x HBB (bought, arrives today)
Symphonium Meteor (tried, bought Nio instead, amazing value this, @$600)
Congrats on the Nio! Love that thing!
Thank you! I love it too. Though I will admit, it was a difficult decision between that and the U12t at first. But the bass and smoothness of the Nio is such a good balance between technical & Precise and Natural & fun.
Last three IEM I tried:
-
Softears Twilight → not on IE900 level yet, but I like it better than IE600
-
Acoustune 1790ti → tonally not my cup of tea
-
Oriolus Szalayi → I love this
Last three IEM I bought:
-
LetShouer S12 → with some modding, it’s the best single planar IEM I have heard so far. I might need to try Stellaris/Talos someday. But the bar is very high, I used to have a multi BA that cost three times the S12, and it’s as good.
-
Sennheiser IE900 → what I use when I am working at the office.
-
Oriolus Szalayi → While it’s not TOTL, this is my first IEM that doesn’t make me think: “I wish this has more xxx, or better yyy”. It’s GOOD ENOUGH at everything. I just enjoy it.
IE900 fit so comfy for long-term listening! One of the best IEMs out there to lie on if you’re someone who sleeps with your music.
