Pad rolling? How about wood-rolling?

Dual, custom, stabilized maple-burl Vérité Closed … (and you wondered why I was quiet about them after such an enthusiastic review …).

Zach has outdone himself, again, with these.

There’s just one problem … one of the sets is purple, and @TylersEclectic knows where I live!

Pad rolling is cheaper.

Those are gorgeous. His and Hers models??

Well…damn it…I want those purple ones! They are gorgeous! I am extremely envious!..but don’t worry I can watch out for them while you are on your world tour…:smirk:

Now that is not the first time that I’ve seen a ferris-wheel shape in the background of your photos. What is the pier/amusement park near you? And does that wheel go underground?

Those blue ones are my jam.

Congratulations, Ian. Very beautiful sets.

Oh my… Ian those are really both something to behold! They are exotic and stunning yet still look classy as hell.

Something about them speaks to me… might be my wife… or my bank account saying NO… not really sure though lol

FFS @torq . Can you please slap on some NSFW tags or something. Almost got fired.

It’s just the Seattle waterfront from our place on Alaskan Way. The Ferris wheel is at pier 57. That’s the view from the dining room. And the wheel is full above the water/ground … you just have Seattle Aquarium between us and it.

The little white triangle in the lower left quadrant of the wheel is actually Mt. Rainier, and the whiter arch to its left is the first of two stadiums. We can see the lighting and fireworks there from our place when they have games/concerts there (if we’re not there in person).

More sort of “mine at home” and, well, “mine on the boat”.

I’d happily let my wife take a pair … but she really only cares for music if she’s dancing to it … and that’s more a speakers-thing, so … all mine …

:+1: Plus one for @TylersEclectic to “watch over” your amazing and stunning purple VC while you’re on your world tour! The blue ones will go better on your boat anyway

You might have an addiction to ZMF headphones if …

I have to say I’ve been entirely seduced with Zach’s cans since getting my first set (used Eikon, on the older grey chassis/rods, finished in Padauk). Since then things seems to have been accelerating …

What started with one “wow, those are pretty, and people love them” experimental purchase has, literally, snowballed. And as of today I own more ZMF cans than I have of any other brand.

I owned the entire set of Focal “audiophile cans” simultaneously (Elex, Elear, Elegia, Clear, Stellia and Utopia2). And I’ve owned Sennheiser’s HD58X, HD6XX, HD650, HD800S and HD820 all at once. But ZMF now takes the crown as the most cans, from any manufacturer that I’ve owned at the same time:

  • 2x Eikon (Padauk & Bloodwood)
  • 1x Aeolus LTD (African Blackwood)
  • 2x Vérité LTD (Ziricote and Cocobolo)
  • 2x Vérité Closed LTD (Stabilized Maple-Burl, in Purple and Sea-green/blue)

All of them get used, too … to date with a set in the office and one at home. Which will shift to being one set of each for our “base” and one for the boat.

Now to figure out what I want for Atticus and Auteur … and my 2nd set of Aeolus …

At this point @torq I think you just say “Fsck It” and send Zach $2500 and say “Suprise me”.

Bet he will too.

I have more Koss Porta-Pros than any other brand. With two more on order. I give them away to infect people with the audiophile/headphone hobby. (And I keep a wireless and the iPhone-friendly, and a spare). Should you ever feel the same way about ZMF, give me a holler.

What about the Ori!?

/shrug

I’ve not heard them.

Me either but I am definitely curious as I really love the sound of Planar headphones.

I can’t say I find planar cans to be notably special.

For me, a given set of headphones is good (great/whatever) or not, regardless of driver technology and, like anything else, there are pros and cons to all approaches/designs and, more importantly, with any specific implementation of a technology or philosophy.

Says the man with 7 Dynamic driven ZMF cans alone. Dynamic fanboy !

I am way to new to the hobby to really know what it is I exactly enjoy about Planar headphones that I own vs the dynamic driver headphones, if I was to guess it would probably be the speed, size of the drivers and maybe the way the perceived slap of the bass vs the dynamic punch? I enjoy both!! Maybe I really want to hear the ORI to feed the little bass head :smiling_imp: in me that likes to come out once in awhile!!
