It’s definitely not an issue for me. Also, I find the ZMF headband system to be superior to Audeze’s. In fact, I’ve had lots of problems with the Audeze system in the past. When manufactured, sometimes they don’t leave a large enough gap between the leather strap and metal support band. I’ve owned an LCD 3 and an LCD 4Z where the leather strap was touching the metal support band. That creates a hotspot very quickly and becomes progressively annoying. When I complained to customer service, they told me it was normal. WHAT? Needless to say, I returned both of them and have not bought from Audeze since. (Plus I hate their glued on earpads).

Thank you, that’s reassuring to hear. I’ve noticed the same thing with my LCD2-C’s strap; I’m one of the lucky ones who doesn’t get a hotspot.
It has to be said that you don’t see many, if any complaints about the comfort of ZMF headphones apart from the rare mention of weight - the Vérités I’ve auditioned were surprisingly light.

Been trying to get an answer from Zach but haven’t heard back in almost a week - does anyone have any experience with the stabilized sets and metal/strap customization? I had a VC with the magnesium chassis and I wasn’t crazy about it chipping, and I also preferred the suede strap. When you buy a stabilized set can you specify elements like that? I’d love to get a new ZMF set with the stabilized release, but not if I can’t address those preferences given it’s not cheap.
When I got my stabilized, you could not customize it (other than the vegan option). You get whatever’s shown in the pictures and description on the webpage. Not sure if it changed but that’s how it was for me.

If you buy one I’ll trade you chassis. My Aeolus is the non magnesium chassis and I’d rather have the magnesium instead. Let me know if interested
The ordering page says:
" We Cannot Customize units beyond how they are pictured, these are sold as is"
I think it’s $125 to have them to swap out an Alumnum Chassis. Plus shipping I suppose:
FWIW Zach said on another site: “We switched our magnesium finish and the shape of all gimbals a while back (maybe 6 months?) so they all look the same and have more radius to the edges. Since the change to the new magnesium substrate and shape we haven’t had a single complaint about paint chipping (knock on wood!) on the new shape/material”
