My understanding is that the images for pads aren’t exact. For example it shows the Auteur pads for images in the Verite pad section as well.
Who’s on first?
Then I will offer my final piece of evidence, the perforated, leather, angled Verite pads that were sent to me by Bevin.
I’ll say this though, If I’m wrong, then I’m wrong. I just want to know for sure which is which. Doesn’t bother me either way.
Do you have a side by side photo of both pads? Because even the Verite pad is slightly angled.
From the product page, the the Universe pad has a tallest height at 25mm and shortest height at 20mm, where as the Verite pad is 21 - 19,
Also, if you check the measurements, the flat pads appear to be slightly brighter (counterclockwise), indicating they’re the ‘Verite’ pads. So confusing with the name of the pads being the same as the headphone haha.
Also for reference, I have both universe leather and suede pads and they’re the same shape - angled.
I still love you @ProfFalkin I can easily see how this was mistaken, your evidence is strong, I think mistakes were made that caused some confusion from both ZMF and some forum users.
At least it is cleared up now =)
Hey I could be wrong too! But then I’m even more confused about the universe suede haha.
Wait are we talking about the same thing? You’re absolutely right, the universe is on the left.
The angle of the pad is thicker on the left. Were you talking about the angle of the opening?
Edited above
Ok, so I guess I was confused in more ways than one. Haha
It’s just odd. The angle on the universe pad was never that apparent to me. Even sitting on the headphones they appear much flatter than they are. Maybe it’s the thickness of them throwing me off.
Keep with this craziness confusion talk. It’ll continually persuade me to not stare at these photos, browse ZMF website everyday and tempt myself to click BUY, which has been a constant theme the last few days.
“this is so confusing. i dont want any part of this confusion. i dont want this.”
Do it, do it! I mean stay away!
If you don’t at least order an Aeolus with suede pads, you’ll have to turn in your audiophile card and use an iPhone 5 for the rest of eternity.
You all are a bad influence.
It’s a hobby.
And it looks like you succumbed to the collective “bad influence”…
On the upside … while your wallet may hate you, your ears (and likely eyes) will love you for the rest of your life!
Don’t worry …, it’s a “Hagro biscuit thing” …
Yep. I’m looking forward to getting a set. Thanks for letting me try it on. I think the biggest hurdle for me previously, besides price, was weight, but getting to actually wear them surprised me a bit.
I’ll start with Universe Suede, I have others but just not ready to try the yet.
My Verites arrived already broken in by cskippy. I don’t have a big budget so after a lot of reading I decided on these as end game, at least for this decade.
Bringing over what I posted on sbaf:
New amp in the stable, Laconic NIght Blues Mini purchased from @Zampotech in the FS forum. Besides a sterling purchase experience he did the 220/120 conversion and the amp is wonderful with no issues whatsoever.
On to the Verite, taking the LNBM, phonitor e and Crack for the ride.
Listening to The Anthony Wilson Trio, percussion, guitar and keyboard, the instruments have plenty of space to shine.
The Verite has great detail with all 3 amps. Drum hits are clear, their echo better extended on the LNBM. On the phontor e the drum strikes are incredibly distinct but the echo is more controlled ending clearly in space, the LNBM lingers a bit.
Crack is out of the running here as both p e and lnbm outperform it, even though it sounds great, I get more from the LNBM and phonitor e.
Listening to Strange Fruit by Cassandra Wilson the only percussion is fingers hitting the strings.
Vocals have more authority and beauty? with the LNBM, sound stage is more closed in but very comfortably so,
LNBM is equally enjoyable with the phontor e. I did find the phonitor maybe a little sterile with this track while still musical and enjoyable. phonitor has the blacker background but the lnbm has no noise, just less space between notes and instruments, so less blackground.
Tube magic, I guess. These amps will both be used. The Crack, well, gotta look for some more tweaks, I guess.
Verites still running away from the HD650 and Clears, like Secretariat at the Belmont Stakes.
phonitor e and LNBM are like Alydar and Affirmed, always neck and neck, both champions.
Universe suedes are my favorites! So comfortable! How do you like the BE2?
