@PaisleyUnderground - if you’re on Qobuz: https://open.qobuz.com/track/33382287
“Closer” is one the most lyrically lazy popular songs I have heard in a while. It aggravates me. Im neutral re Chainsmokers but for the limited amount of pop I listen to I do find myself liking Halsey, so that was a disappointing collaboration.
I have a more personal reason for hating it, if I’m being honest; had to man a booth for my old company a few years ago and the one right next to us was a major telco that was blasting this song on loop, so I can’t help but associate the song with interminable corporate event effery besides its just being so bland.
Don’t you go hating Kylie on me!
As a kid, she was the only poster on my wall that didn’t have wheels and an engine
It was just that song, really. I’m a fan of Kylie. She makes the world a happier place. @PastorOfMuppets already posted the (nice) earworm that is Can’t Get You out of My Head, and @PaisleyUnderground posted Blue Monday, so I’m going to let Kylie combine the best of both these worlds here:
As for posters on the wall, Belinda Carlisle starred in mine. Not sure it quite rises to the level of an earworm, though:
That Kylie-New Order mashup is amazing! I’d never heard that before.
I agree that Kylie makes the world a better place, as long as I can ignore her Stock Aitken Waterman years, especially with Jason Donovan.
Here’s another earworm, but in a good way and the long intro is great, never realized that there was one for the video.

This thread has devolved into good, bad, and ugly one-hit-wonders. I no longer know what an earworm really is, other than from that tasty scene in The Wrath of Khan.
i don’t think you like piña coladas or getting caught in the rain
Strictly speaking, an earworm is usually a portion of a song, 10-15 seconds, that you can’t get out of your head. There has been a lot of research done on them, and the technical term is Involuntary Musical Imagery. If you google around, it could also be verse. For example, here is a tongue-twister verse that is very difficult to get out of your head once you see it, or worse yet, attempt to repeat it aloud.
One smart fellow, and he felt smart.
Two smart fellows and they both felt smart.
Three smart fellows and they all felt smart.
Ha ha ha - you’re welcome for the definition!
Its kinda morphed into a song someones just doesn’t like LOL, Heck I like the Peanuts Theme song. ![]()
A few more of the
songs " “Photograph” By Nickleback ![]()
“Cotton Eye Joe” By Rednex ![]()
I like the peanuts theme too. But it sticks in my head whenever I hear it.
Yep, the third song my bathroom alexa plays every morning when I stand in front of the mirror,
and I have to say:
She’s damn right

See if you can survive all 14 minutes of this:
Love the Right Said Fred, @TylersEclectic . (I’m too sexy for this thread).
Does the song below fit into this category? I was having a shower today and I remembered this one – the chorus, of course. It took a while to forget. ![]()
EDIT: Xmas bonus:
The chorus sure is memorable. It’s such a sweet song too.
