Chord Mojo 2 Review & Measurements

I have always found the Chord cables to be excellent from the cheapest ones up I usually go for the clearway interconnects and speakers, audioquest otherwise (if chord don’t do config) and Puritan audio for power. I haven’t gone down the audiophile fuse rabbit hole as I don’t believe it leads anywhere

Hey Rhodey, I have been thinking about getting both the v2 and the mojo2, but I have heard that the mojo2 is not capable of getting the best out of the v2. I am pretty sure it can run my hd800s to a good capacity but are you using a separate amp for the v2s?

I use the V2 with it and I find it enjoyable. I think it works quite well. Bass is still strong. Still has good depth in the stage. Imaging it’s still good too.

I’ve tried the 800S with it as well and find it works well too.

Sure a full size amp will be better but for around the house, away from my main setup, I like what the mojo 2+Poly offers.

Nice, I just got the v2 today and they are great. Getting the mojo2 tomorrow. What desktop setup do you have? I have been thinking about either the mojo2 as dac to an A90d or just waiting some time and get a wa7. Have you tried the mojo2 into a dedicated amp?

Awesome, congrats.

My chain is Innuos Zenith MK3 > Wavelight > Bliss or Eddie Current Studio B. Also still have the Feliks Envy, but will be selling. And I picked up the schiit mjolnir 3 recently. The mjolnir is a pretty good amp for the money, with plenty of power.

No I haven’t used the mojo2 as a dedicated dac. I keep the Poly on it and use it around the house.

I won a Chord Mojo 2 at CanJam London. I’ll be honest I never considered getting a Mojo, because like, it’s so damn tiny it can’t possibly be that interesting compared to my existing stacks.

The instrument separation and the 3D-ness of the sound blew me away. My T1s just SANG to me.

I’m always glad to be proven wrong by a piece of gear.

It’s incredibly impressive. I feel like Chord could double their market share by just putting the same exact board in a larger box, just so it feels like a more serious DAC/amp from size alone.

I’m only half kidding, too. Imagine a “Mojo 2 Max” with a screen and volume knob (instead of those stupid balls), RCA outputs (instead of only 1/8" jack), and a 1/4" headphone jack, add $200 (so, still keep it under $1K), and I bet that would sell. Hell, I might buy one. If I had more DIY electronics skills, I would even attempt something like that, just for fun.

I recently brought B & W 706 s2 speakers but I find them bright for listening to streaming music on my stereo setup comprising of harman kardon 3380 stereo receiver , speakers and iPad . They are causing me ear fatigue though rest of the family is fine !!

I use my iPad directly connected to my Harman kardon 3380 stereo receiver to run the speakers . On the iPad I stream Amazon music .

I was thinking about some solution for brightness and I read about mojo 2 . My question is that can I use Mojo 2 equaliser connected to my iPad for reducing the brightness in my stereo set up ? Also please share your setting to counter brightness

Quick question - Can’t find the answer anywhere else online:

With the Mojo 2 and Poly combo connected together, is the USB-C port still accessible so that you could connect a cable to use that to connect a source without having to disconnect the Poly first? Have the original Mojo and Poly combo (and a nice leather case) but often use the Mojo as an external DAC for my iPad Pro - Not a massive deal, but bugs me having to disconnect it all just to do this and wondered if the Mojo2 with it’s USB C port positioned like that could solve that issue?

Would appreciate it if you (or anyone else) know the answer and could clear that up.

Thanks

Steve

Unfortunately you only have access to the charging port on the poly. The poly covers up everything on the mojo. It’s easy to take off tho.

Thanks for confirming. Appreciate your help :+1:

Had a closer look at my existing Mojo and Poly combo last night after posting my question and I figured from the curved internal shape of the mating surface on the Poly, making the join between them flush when connected, it was highly unlikely the Mojo 2 would alter that.

If they ever make a Poly 2/mk II it would be great if they could add a data pass through port in addition to the charging USB port, so that you could still use it as a DAC for another device without having to split them apart.

So any thoughts on the Mojo 2 and its ability to power the HE1000 Stealth? I just ordered on Headphones.com and am not currently “over amped” (!) with a Mojo 2 and an xDuoo MT-602. Any thoughts on whether that is enough? Thx!

You won’t have any issues with power either direct from the Mojo 2, or via the xDuoo MT-602, into the HE1000 Stealth. Both can deliver more than is needed to cleanly get to “instant hearing damage” levels of output with those cans, and still have headroom.

Thanks for the info. Cheers

Definitely enough. I have them both (the Mojo 2 and the HE1000v4) in front of me right now. Chord Mojo 2 is a superb device and my favorite in its class. Pair with Poly for occasional frustrations but superb functionality once up and running with Roon.

Just got the HE1000 Stealths today and as you guys told me, they’re v easy to drive and I’ve got plenty of power. They sound fantastic - so much space - and a real contrast to the Clears that I also love. It was the strong desire to have space and soundstage for classical that got me on this path in the first place. Couldn’t be happier! Thanks again for the advice.
