May I ask which one has “better” HF/treble in your opinion and to your ears - Daybreak with Coffee tips or Truthear Pure?

EDIT: Including a comparison of coffee tips on both

Pure for me. It just has less overall up there in a way that works best for me. It should of course be noted that I am biased, which is why I didn’t want to include Pure in the video, as I felt it was unfair to Daybreak. I prefer Pure’s bass and treble to Daybreak, but Daybreak’s mids are very good.

On the subject of ear tips. I’ll be getting coffee tips to try with daybreak later but Moondrop is claiming that spring tips are also reducing treble peaks. Is it possible to get 5128 measurements with them too? I’m curious.

Even if a 5128 measurement shows a difference, that may not reflect with your ear anatomy. The only true way to know is to try the tips yourself.

Disappointed to see no comparison with Lush and Volume S, considering they are way more coherent compared to Binky, Dusk DSP.

Yeah, I getcha. Honestly we just had so many other comparisons that I figured it made sense to leave the least similar sets out.

That said, I will say the Volume S still takes the cake over Daybreak for me, whereas Lush is much closer and honestly hard to say for sure which I prefer between it and Daybreak.

Thank you for addressing this! I’m sorry to pester you, but where would your preference b/w Volume S, Lush and Pure lie?

Also, should we be looking forward to ZiiGaat Odyssey 2 review?

Pure > Volume S > Lush, for me

And I don’t have an Odyssey 2 on the way, I don’t think Andrew does either, so probably not.

Oh, that’s a bummer. About Odyssey 2 I mean. Somewhat encouraged with my Pure purchase, though, which feels nice (for the time being at least ). Finally managed to grab myself a lightly used pair . Keeping my fingers crossed.

Choice affirmation is hell of a drug!

Hope it will end up sounding somewhat like the DUSK with less bass and treble quantity in my ears, similar to how it looks on the graphs at your squig, since I’m positive that I’ll like that. Hope it wouldn’t behave all that differently from it with regards to the lower treble resonance.

Thank you for the response! Keeping my hopium supply nice and plenty.

Seems Crinacle listened to the feedback about the tips. Just received a pair today and the package now includes silicone “shortwide” tips in sizes L, M, S, XS which to my eyes and ears are extremely similar to the coffee tips, and a pair of memory foam tips. Might be good to update this review so future buyers don’t think they also need to buy coffee tips to get the described sound.

I came here to thank Listener for recommending the Coffee tips. The CrinEar shortwides, while a nice addition, are just a little too firm for me and leave tender spots after a while. The small Coffees, on the other hand, are… perfect. A good, solid seal without any excess pressure, resulting in something I can wear for hours without any discomfort. They transform the Daybreaks from an interesting new acquisition I might use on occasion into my current favorite pair.
