Forget about sound, what is the best LOOKING gear you've ever seen?

I couldn’t resist making some @TylersEclectic purple specials. Never trust your eyes with photographs. Never. Each creation took 30 seconds flat.

Idk, but for me Cleer Next has been one of the sexiest headphones in terms of design. Color is also spot-on.

Bummer that they didn’t get the sound performance spot-on

PS not mine, but on loan, way to $$$, but it sounds awesome with HD800s, Clears, LCD-3, HD650s.

I don’t even like IEMs (my ears don’t handle them well at all)–but that is freakishly beautiful!

So is the price… :face_with_monocle: :open_mouth: :flushed:

I am bewildered at the skyrocketing price of higher end iem industry. I blame Shure for opening the door with the SE846, to which I happily purchased.

Agreed, but the cost is in making the quality good enough with so little space to work with, so I kind of understand it.
But the goalposts are moving; 2 years ago I would never pay $1000 for an IEM and now I plan to get the Andromeda 2020 :sunglasses: But it is a deminishing returns game, so it is about finding your personally sweetspot and the Andro is mine (for now :open_mouth:).

Cost have been going up on audio equipment ( and everything else) since I started audio back in the 60’s. Its hasn’t slowed down and never will. As long as people pay for the “High End”, of anything, be it cars, homes, or electronics in general, its going to continue, but with high end comes the trickle down of technology to the lower end products. Is it marketing that drives the high prices, the “reviewers”, that tout its the best thing ever or just, or , build it and someone will buy it. I’m just glad, someone out there can afford it, as it keeps the market going and of course the manufacturers designing and producing. At least we have a choice, we can buy the “basic model” or upgrade to the “middle model” or the “high end” model. Kinda like cars. :grinning:

Sounds as good as it looks imo

What did you think of it? I have to say that this one is really tempting me to try and get a demo.

It is a great piece of gear, major build quality like all of T+A gear, total quality, supported every headphone I had and on loan as well, but its not $6000 better than my Bryston BHA-1. I’ll keep my BHA-1 and just buy 2 or 3 more pairs of headphones or another tube amp :grinning:. The T+A went back last week.

I just got an HA2 SE in white and I can also say they look and sounds stunning.

Definitely dig the copper of the Empy @Jsim also like how they match the tubes of the Euphoria. I know how much you love this combo.

Even though their sound isn’t for me personally, the Sennheiser HD 820 is a really nice looking headphone in pictures and person. That glass backing is just so nice.

In terms of the higher end stuff, Sennheiser HD800s and Sony MDR Z1R do it for me. I love texture:

A picture that really showcases the gorgeous texture… Love it.

And I also can’t disagree that HD820 looks beautiful - can’t speak on sound performance.

I think where the SD820 is lacking for many folks is the fit. When worn just right they sound amazing but that’s the catch…you cannot move around in them too much or sound leakage occurs and diminishes the sound. I wish some company would make after market ear pads for these that are double the thickness. I believe that would improve the sound for many. No one that I know of makes ear pads for these and they are proprietary as the HD800/800S will not fit these. Shame.

I’ve come across Bauhaus design principles recently, in the context of German made watches. Form following function, artistic but straightforward design, minimalism with refinement, high quality materials, clean lines and geometric shapes, simplicity, symmetry - while being accessible, not ostentatious or opulent.

I could see some of those principles at play with the Rosson RAD-0. The word ‘design’ is in the company name.

Setting aside discussions of comfort, I like the aesthetics of the RAD-0 headband. Probably my favorite headband aesthetics are that of the Stax SR-009 - clean, no excess cushion/padding, non-spherical shape. With @rustyrat’s suspension strap add-on, my RAD-0 headband somewhat mimics the SR-009 headband now, but for the center cushion.

The Win Labs SDC-10 is a very rare, handmade high end acrylic turntable from the early to mid 1980’s that was quite a sight to see at the time:

I had one at the time, it was very exotic looking…
