Well. It’s all demos for my customers. Cost me a lot of money. I hope the investment pays off over time.
Hello everyone! Please help me. 2 months ago I bought Denon 7200 and astell&kern kann alpha. Mostly I listening deep house music. I expected from this combination something much better and because I didn’t like the bass quality in music I will give that denon to my young brother as a present. So the question is, what are the best top headphones to listen mostly deep house music? I plan listen music on my astell&kern kann alpha. Guy from the shop highly advised Focal Stelia. Is this combination is really good or I need to buy something else? Thanks in advance for any support
Sony MDR Z7 or Z7 2. Terrific bass quality and rumble. Stellia is more neutral and way more expensive and should be paired with a more precise desktop setup to get the most out of them.
Your obviously just looking at closed back’s right?
I’ll leave it to others with more knowledge to answer you because I don’t even know what deep house is but welcome to the community. I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.
I’m sure it will Tom. I really hope everything is successful and you continue to enjoy as much as you obviously do now.
Thank you for the kind words Paul. Appreciate it very much. Yes, I’m passionate about it.
@Tom_Ato I didn’t realize this was actually directed at me. But, no, I have no experience with the r6 or r8. Those and the m11 plus limited are the only daps on my radar for “technology reasons”. The n6ii is the only “older” dap I am considering. As it being old isn’t a deterrent to my use case (it is for almost every other dap)
I have the m11 plus stainless model on pre-order. If, for some crazy reason, that doesn’t work, the n6ii and r6 are all that’s left for me to try.
But, I suspect snapdragon 660 + android 10 will squash all my usability issues. And I already know I like 4497 + thx amp based devices enough to tolerate them for mobile use. (and, in fact, I think they will pair very very well with my primary headphones currently)
After that, I pick a stack. And the c9 may have taken the top spot. (m11 plus has 4.4 balanced line out). IT really depends on how much I like the 4497 in the m11 vs getting a dac I can connect to the m11 for desktop listening.
Keep in mind: The DAC is not so much responsible for performance/tonality as the overall implementation.
I know. But even fiios own q5s-tc with 4493 and the same thx amps was great for me. (arguably the best non burr-brown source I have heard). The q5s fell apart on the BT side (literally the worst BT implementation I have heard as well as being a terrible UX). My current headphones both add all the color that is needed, so linear, transparent dac/amp will work just fine. Doesn’t need to be perfect. And a DAP I can live with can easily be the source to any DAC/AMP out there.
If this doesn’t work, I might just buy an iPod Touch to use on small schiit/ifi stacks scattered around the house. 3 or 4 Zen/Can or IEMagni/Modi stacks.
Besides, if this thing doesn’t clearly out perform a qudelix 5k, well, yeah. Game Over.
Should I upgrade my LCD-2 to LCD-3 if cost isn’t a huge factor (not MSRP)? I love the look of my LCD-2 and don’t want to part with it… is the sound quality increase worth the upgrade?
What are your thoughts on the Monoprice/Monolith M1060 Headphones? There are definitely mixed opinions about this set of headphones, but what do you think about them? Are they good in terms of build quality, sound quality, and comfort? I am looking into these headphones because they are “cheap” planar magnetics.
If you are looking into cheap planar magnetics, the Hifiman HE400se are worth a listen.
I haven’t had chance to spend much time with them yet (I am currently travelling) but the short chances I have had have been impressive for a headphone at their price. I am looking forwards to getting home and spending some time with them before I review them.
I have no experience with the M1060 but these are still available. My guess would be that the hifiman would probably out perform the M1060 in sound, have an equally crappy build and lose to the M1060 in comfort….just a guess. Worth considering given the sale price. I’m sure somebody here has experience with both and might share their insights.
I think these sound great, especially for the sale price….wouldn’t recommend at full retail ($899) Actually I prefer them to my HE6se v2…wayyy easier to drive and to me they’re more comfortable because they’re much lighter. Take into account Hifimans QC issues but they are covered by warranty and I haven’t had any issue with mine. If you’re looking for inexpensive planar I’d definitely consider this one.
Edit: They’re actually $249 right now through this link
Mine too…
Mine died shortly out of warranty. Take QC and durability very seriously.
I can’t comment on the Monolith M1060 since I have never listened to them. However, it’s bigger brother the Monolith M1570 is my favorite sounding headphone of my entire collection. I even prefer it’s sound over my Hifiman Ananda. You may want to move up to them. I bought mine on sale for $450 but it has been as cheap as $400 for a brief time.
.
The big negative about the Monolith M1570 is the poor build quality of the headband. It is made with thin bendable metal resulting in a very floppy set of cans with very weak clamping force.
You’ve been asking for it, here it is. My experiment with different N6II boards:
Sorry, was too lazy so I just linked to my blog.
I am not surprised at all! Love this write up!
Transistor operation class a on the c9?
Motherboards + c9 are way too many combinations!
Yes sir! Certainly sir.
A great many combinations comes with a great many possibilities.
This is the first time I’ve looked at your store. Impressive. Do you service Switzerland only, adjoining countries or all of continental Europe?
